They're really taxing my google skills now. If Ovechkin or Kuznetsov score a goal, I may have to say uncle.

I really hope not, the whole Vegas thing is ruining the great story of their success.

Drop the puck and play.

PP here. I thought I would be so disgusted with the pregame revelry that I would turn it off, but I had to keep watching. I know people who grew up constructing their own skating/hockey rinks by hand every winter, equipped with overhead lighting for evening, and skated in their backyard from December to March. The same people who also grew up with easy access to multiple frozen ponds for the same use. They take their hockey seriously, it is literally part of their culture, they are not bandwagon or "in your face"; they are fans of the "Original Six" NHL teams from the 1920's (NOT 1974). But they loved that Vegas embraced who they are, and did well by it. They are a great team. Real sports fans do not criticize other people's teams, they embrace their own team (and this is the important part)..... win or lose. They also do not gloat or claim to be a "rain or shine" fan, when it is clearly not the case. It is what it is. That venue was about 100% Vegas fans last night.

My nephew in New Haven makes a backyard rink every winter—esp. with the winters they’ve been having. I was at his hockey tournament last weekend.

They are serious up there.

He’s routing for Vegas. Little shit. My family was Caps season ticket holders in the 1970s. I remember falling asleep in the back of the station wagon on the way home from Landover. And my brother and his friends playing street hockey—full gear, face masks, pads in the cul-de-sac.

Go Caps!!

We can do better than that for Holtby.

What are people's plans for the next game? DH is a huge, long-time fan of the Caps. He's mentioned maybe going to the Capital One center on Thursday for the game (and maybe taking one or both of our sons). Not sure how serious he is about it. Instead of that, I wouldn't mind finding a fun viewing party in the burbs (Montgomery County).

You can't lose either way. They are unbeatable at the moment. Peaking at the right time... firing with all cylinders. What a post season this has been.

I love those two so much for their heart and talent. I’m not good at looking up photos and I agree Ovi is not traditional eye candy, but their celebration photos make me tear up. LET’S GO CAPS!!

I considered that one for him, but I prefer clean-shaven HoltBeast.

I would have found photos of them to post, but they probably would have been of the celebratory variety rather than the eye candy variety.

I think this is a pretty good (and recent?) photo of Ovechkin.

Holtby and his wife used to be regulars in my solidcore class 3 years ago, both super nice. I had no idea who he was because I was used to seeing him with his helmet on. They stopped coming to the 10am class when people started recognizing them and making crazy comments (one woman told them her husband had insisted on naming their son after Holtby). I was so embarrassed for them.
