What about Judy Garland? Is she considered a"classic beauty"? |
No she's weird looking. |
No to Chinese people, she has a peasant face. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and of course there are cultural preferences. Fan bing Bing is more beautiful to most Chinese people |

I think of classic beauty as a bit staid and more conservative rather than sexy, with even features and usually brown hair--someone like Jaclyn Smith in her heyday. |

Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Christy Turlington |

![]() There's something oddly action-figurey about this kid but I think mid-western beauty, not classic. It's interesting to read this thread but I don't think it can be agreed upon. |
This is the right definition. And Amal clooney, jacky Kennedy, audrey or Katherine hepburn or even angelina jolie dont fit in that definition. They are seen by most people as striking beauties but they are not "classic" some of their features are out of balance. WHich is part of what makes them even more beautiful for a lot of peole and also what means that there will be people who will say "ugh no way they are ugly: too angulous, bulging eyes, too wide forehead etc.." Noone will say grace kelly is ugly. She is objectively a beauty. Some can find her boringly beautiful though and lacking a certain je ne sais quoi.. |
![]() Isn't it interesting how decade to decade beauty trends change. In the 90s my mom would mention that the heroin chic look was not beautiful in "her day" when well defined full legs were the fashion. I though that sounded dubious because obviously stick bodies were the most beautiful and would be the ideal forever. Now rounded bodies with wasp waists are in and I never would have imagined it! This will go out of style too and something else will be the rage. Teens likely think the current looks are timeless. Maybe the Venus of Willendorf look will have a resurgence soon. |
What about Nicole Kidman, Kelly Preston, Kyra Sedgwick? Would any of them considered a “classic beauty"?
