He chose to take drugs and they killed him. Along with Whitney Houston.

Its a death of shame. Total shame.

You are a total shame, that's what.

Prince starts his solo at "3:24".

so freaking brilliant. Some folks are good musicans, others are good writers, others are just good showman, very very rarely do you get all three in one man. He also plays drums and piano like a beast too.

God the long guitar solo is so fricking annoying. I thought that shit died out in the 70's.

You're annoying. If you didn't come to party, don't bother knocking on my door!

Was anyone listening to Elliot in the Morning when they opened the show at 5:50? Basically, E guessed he had seen Prince play live about 15 times. One time was in NYC long ago at a club. Someone was going around saying "The Purple Man is coming. The Purple Man is coming." But at 1:00 AM, people started leaving because there was no sign. Again, the guy went around again at 1:30 AM, but E didn't really buy into it. Finally, at 2:15 AM, he showed up with the band; they just walked on stage and started playing songs that no one had ever heard... "didn't sing a word. Just played and played." E said it was incredible... best performance he had ever seen. They played for about an hour. BTW, only about 100 people were around at that point.

Crazy.

If he had the flu, which was reported, and was even taking just the prescribed dose of narcotic pain medication for his hip pain, this still could have led to death:

I know this is one way to look at it. I have been fighting cancer this year and it has been horrible. But my relative just died of an overdose. She was a beautiful, loving person who started with alcohol and then got hooked on OxyContin and the next step was Heroin. Never in a million years would I imagine this would happen to her. It has devastated our family the same way my cancer has hurt our family.

Yeah, I just watched that performance and it was amazing. Some guitar solos may be annoying but the musicianship and showmanship of that one made it amazing. And it was sweet that he came over to Harrison's son, too. Wow. He was the shit.

Addiction is a disease. It's not a shameful death. It's a sad one.

You're an asshole. He had been in pain for years. He was not a recreational drug user.

F U! As the poster said, pain for years and due to his beliefs he would not have surgery. How do you know for sure it is an overdose, and if it were, most likely accidental, which I am sorry to say can happen to anyone with the meds they pass out and advertise and promote these days. Blame big PHARMA!

What? He was a Jehovah's Witness and so is brain surgeon Ben Carson. Where's you link that Jehovah's Witnesses say no to surgery but yes to oxycontin?

so what? You can't mourn someone who died from a drug overdose? Just bc someone does drugs does not mean their entire career or accomplishments or contributions to the arts should be written off.
