The teacher however, did say she will work with her to get through the semester.

I don't know if I should take let things be or insist on a transfer.
World or US history? What grade is she in? I think AP World is mandatory if you're not in remediation or IEP/ESL

AP s are mandatory at Wilson with those exceptions? Wow. I would not have my child stay in a class they were not registered for did not need simply because it begs the question, what is it bumping?
I think for 10th graders, it's automatic, though things may have changed. I thought it was also mandatory at SWWHS

Those are smart kids. Kudos to them also happy to see thatsmart kids these days still bother with the school newspaper. I thought that would have gone out of style with Twitter.

Albright? Ideal communicator? Surely you jest! If you talk with him for more than 5 mins you will realize how unclear he is. He has great points, communication is not one.

PP. let's not bash Albright and Deal. The earlier poster referenced the fact that Deal sends out weekly emails with school information and keeps parents informed. That used to be the case at Wilson but not this year and with no explanation.

Wilson has had Lena Frumin running the communications for years and she did an outstanding job and kept all moving parts moving- Her name is on the door but she retired and they are working to fill that slot. I didn't know this but now that I do I simply email teachers or principal directly and I do get responses quickly--

I thought the communications position was eliminated as part of the budget cuts. I hope that the position is being filled though.

I think Lena's departure is why there are so many communication problems also the change over to Jupiter Grades.

Jupiter grades have been in place for a bit, are they eliminating edline?

The tactics of DCPS Central office when dealing with the significant issues at my DC's school were to ignore issues, pretend they didn't exist and wait for people to go away.

Thankfully, these people are not easily deterred. The principal has four EEOC complaints pending against her. The assistant principal has hired her family member and passed over a long term temp for a front office job. The morale at the school is at an all time low. And it's the students who are having to deal with the brunt of this incompetency.

So for Wilson students and parents, stay on it. They are hoping you will lose steam and go away.

Kaya Henderson should be fired. DCPS should have a complete overhaul. Kimberly Martin should never have been hired. She's unqualified and unprepared to deal even the most basic issues.

PP are at a DCPS school? And thanks for the Wilson wake up call! Kaya should be fired yes. I don't think it is Martins fault she was recruited and hired though -- but she needs to step on the gas!

Everything is moving over to Jupiter grades. Last year some teachers were using EdLine others using Jupiter Grades - EdLine will be gone.

This is how the first day of school went. These students are brilliant!

No sure what the principal mumbled, but would like to know if anyone catches it.

this was the beginning of an e-mail from DCPS I got today, signed by Kaya:

"Dear Friends,

What a fantastic first two weeks of school! This has been the best school opening I’ve seen in my tenure as Chancellor, and I hope you’re as excited as I am for what this year holds in store for our young people and our community."
