This is precisely why most of my friends are not natives. This is not PP. The natives here come across as pathetic - obsessive and insecure, wallowing in the past, and unable to accept change. I deliberately decline invites from natives - because I have been to their parties and have no interest in any more of the insecure, abhorrent behavior I have seen there by grown adults. But I am flattered you believe I am actually missing something. Get over it. Get over yourselves, and get some coping mechanisms, in fact.

It's kind of funny that the transplants are telling natives they need to "get over it", and then kvetching on this thread about how mean and snobbish the natives are.

The transplants (those from other countries - since DC is one of the most diverse in the nation) and those from other towns or cities are typically ruder and can't seem to drive. The DC native usually MISSES how the old DC used to be and look before it became so populated and sigh when they see how greedy transplants have taken over all the jobs.
