LAMB lottery results

I am surprised that they kept last names in there. If they are going to put it online, they should do initials and DOB, or first name and DOB.

I am surprised as well. It's really dragging feet and half-doing the right thing. But at this point initials and DOB would be adding insult to injury since the full names were there for so long, giving the DOB next would be insane. I also thing it would now be inappropriate to do initials and DOB for pk4 next year, since they put out full names this year, and there will be a lot of repeat applicants.

See, I didn't think it would be "messy" to delay informing families by 2-3 days, but I find it seriously offensive and a sign of extremely poor judgment to publish full names, or even last names of children AND leave them up through a weekend in spite of complaints (because you bet there were complaints immediately).

None, sorry. Lamb is my top choice.

Agree with you, and with your point about posting DOB given that full names were posted. Let's hope that next year they just join the common lottery so that people can just login to their accounts to get the wait list position info.

Anyone know if the PK-3 list has moved at all?

I called on Monday to determine where my kid is on the list. I was told that they had 30 spots that have been offered. They expect some movement once the common lottery results have been posted. Good luck!

+1 I find it ironic that they say on their website that they haven't joined the common lottery because it's a work in progress.

"While we applaud the efforts taken in creating a common lottery system we are hesitant to join a system that has not yet been finalized. With a more cautious approach, LAMB hopes to avoid the uncertainty that comes with a work in progress."

Is the LAMB waitlist going to be updated online, or do you need to call to find out if it has moved?

I would call.

Anonymous wrote:What is wrong with you? Why would you apply to a school you didn't think would be a good fit? There are hundreds of families who would LOVE a spot. Thank you for at least doing the right thing once you got what you REALLY wanted. I shudder to think what would have happened if you hadn't gotten your other HRCS.

So get on board with LAMB joining the common lottery, which prevents someone from holding onto multiple spots and makes them rank schools so that someone who doesn't want LAMB but gets a good draw will go elsewhere.

I don't see how that follows. I think you're crazy and I feel really bad for you sincerely because you're off the charts bonkers.

Thanks for that analysis! I really appreciate your thoughtful response.

With the common lottery, you cannot hold onto multiple spots, now that MSDC manages waitlists. Also you have to rank your schools, so you don't just apply willy nilly to all schools--you put thought into it, as getting into a school means that you have no chance at schools you rank as less desirable. So people don't just apply to schools for the sake of applying, as they do now with schools like LAMB and Bethune that are outside the common lottery. It also means that people who get a good lottery # effectively have their choice of schools--thus, if they get a good draw and don't want a Montessori dual language school, they'll get into another school instead. As a result, popular schools like LAMB will be filled with people who actually want to be there.

I was completely shut out of the common lottery (even my inbounds and safety schools!) so I am super great that my dc got a spot at lamb. And it's my total #1 pick, so I would have accepted. Thank goodness they are not part of the common lottery!

This happened to us last year. Bombed on the common lottery but won the LAMB lottery. That is the great benefit of LAMB not being in the common lottery! You can win one and lose the other. With the common lottery, you have one number for all the schools and they just match you according to what is available at that point - you kind of win everything or lose everything with the common lottery. LAMB being separate provides another opportunity to get a good number.

Welcome to LAMB! We look forward to having you join the community.

Yeah, but it means that someone not crazy about Montessori or Spanish might take a spot because they got it and struck out in the main lottery. So really while it could be a windfall for more families, it means more potential losers.

I think people need to understand the amount of work involved if you speak no Spanish and don't care about Montessori.
