LAMB lottery results

Better to wait for the results and get them right the first time than messing the lists up like Bethune did.

Messy?

Seriously. This was a web-based application. I don't understand why the results can't be posted or emailed immediately.

Yes messy. This shouldn't take that long. Get your act together. Four days to do a lottery of maybe 2000 kids (1000 per class)? Come on. It's called time management.

When you called the school, were they able to tell you if you got in?

Spoken like a parent not at a school.

Charter schools have small administrations, most of the time, those staff members have othe duties such as actually running and operating the school. Validating the date takes time. You don't want your child to be skipped because they rushed do you?

Be patient - I know it's difficult.

Long-time LAMB parent here. If waiting until Wednesday is making you this angry/irritated, this is not the school for you. For better or worse, they prefer personal communication to online; they will always prioritize needs of kids in the classroom than keeping parents up to speed minute by minute. Communication is much better than it used to be but it doesn't run like a Swiss watch. We will be sad when our youngest is graduates this spring but there are things that I won't miss.

They are not disorganized and messy. They just are busy with making the calls to those that won and with carrying out their normal school administrative duties. So, they take a couple of days to get the waitlist numbers up on the website. My understanding is that while the LAMB lottery is really important to the parents that hope to get in, for the administration, it is just one of a series of management tasks that they are going through throughout the spring season.

Good luck to everyone!!!! We got our call that we had won the lottery on Friday last year so some calls may go before the weekend out this year too. But I wouldn't hold out hope....better to be pleasantly surprised when your phone rings with a number you don't know (in my experience).

Signed,
LAMB Parent

Good to know - thanks for posting.

By the way did you get your call in the morning or in the afternoon. Going to an important meeting and can't bring phone with me since I can't stop looking at it obsessively.

Anyone know how many spots were available for PreK 3?

Three pk4 slots and 27 pk3 slots. Calls to those who got in are being made this afternoon. Results will be posted online by Monday.

Jeez, 11 slots last year and 3 slots this year. That stinks for rising PK4 families who really wanted to attend.

Yup particularly because two years ago there were a lot of PS3 slots. So if my kids were born six days earlier their chances of getting in would have been much, much better because they would have started PS3 in fall Of 2013. Oh well, I'll now turn my attention to obsessing over the common lottery.

In a way it's a ripple effect of DCI. Until there was a MS feeder path LAMB was losing a significant number of 5th graders to other schools. For several years there was just one class of 4th/5th graders (whereas there might be 3-4 classes of 1st-4th graders). So LAMB opened more PK3/PK4 to fill the classrooms available and make the finances work. Now that DCI is open, that attrition has slowed somewhat and they had to add a second classroom for upper elementary children.

Things should stabilize now but for those who were caught in the crease it really does suck.
