I don't have a dog in this fight, but either there was a problem with the data last year or parents need to know why the IB participation rate fell from 99% to 58% in one year. http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/virginia/districts/fairfax-county-public-schools/george-c-marshall-high-school-20451
I'll take this as a retraction.
+1. The participation rate obviously did not go down 41% in one year. The prior rate used by US News was wrong.
No marshall on this list! http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/college-rankings-blog/2012/05/30/adjusting-the-best-high-schools-rankings-for-government-data-errors
Since US News clearly got it wrong in 2012, why would anyone place any faith in their ability to scrub the data and catch all the errors? No local public school other than TJ has a 99% AP or IB participation rate, and no school's participation rate would ever plunge 41% in one year. If you don't grasp that, you are pretty dense. Marshall is ranked 12th in the county by US News this year, about where people familiar with FCPS schools would have expected.
