An interesting article from 5 years ago about a principal that was brought in to turn Jefferson around.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/10/AR2005071000885.html Does anyone know how long he lasted? (Turns out he was a New Leaders for New Schools grad. If you read deeper into the article you can see Ballou got a New Leaders principal too in '05. She didn't last either...) |
| Jefferson has a really good Principal now - Ms. Pride. |
| KIPP Key has the best math scores of any public middle school. |
Does KIPP admit students in 6th grade? How woudl KIPP work as a middle school? |
|
KIPP Key serves grades 4 to 8, acceptance by lottery
http://www.kippdc.org/key/ There are a number of KIPP schools on several campuses starting at Pre-K3 and expanding through HS (currently through 10th) http://www.kippdc.org/enroll/enroll-today/ |
| That twice a month Saturday school at KIPP sure looks attractive. |
| And they have a class devoted to chanting. My DC's friend who attended KIPP for one year didn't like the chanting part. YMMV. |

| What is the capacity of these nine middle schools, and how many kids are left in the cold? How many kids in DC attend middle school? Just a hunch, but I bet the data is pretty depressing. |
I don't know, the Jews, Native Americans, Buddhists, Catholics, auctioneers, protestors and Gregorian Monks all chant. If it is good enough for them, it's good enough for me. |
| Is the principal still heating kids? |
| Hart middle school is my top choice. Billy is the man. |
Hope so! It's getting cold out there - winter's coming. |
new poster here. I looked at them a few months ago -- they appeared completely on par. |
