They should not. He will just try to use the event for his own advantage like he always does. He has no capacity to celebrate any success that he does not see as his own. New York and the Knicks have nothing to gain by going there.

Oklahoma City Thunder turned Trump down last year. Trump didn’t extend an invitation to the 2025 WNBA Championship team Las Vegas Aces. And he probably won’t extend one to this year’s women NBA champions

Just because the MAGA owner is going does not mean the team members are going. Why would a professional athlete want to soil their reputation by being photographed with Trump?

I am sure some will skip it either because of a "scheduling conflict", "illness" for simple "no thank you.". If attending is some kind of condition of employment from maga owner it's a different calculation.

The Knicks have brought nothing but good vibes to NYC. All of that would disappear in a heartbeat if they go to the White House to celebrate Trump, the most hated man in NY. I can't imagine Brunson, KAT, Hart, OG, Bridges and so on would squander all that goodwill by participating in Trump propaganda. The entire city would so disappointed in them.
