DP Aren't the SOL and AP dates set by people other than FCPS? If so, wouldn't it follow that students could have a shorter year if there's fewer holidays set by FCPS that otherwise lengthen the school year? |
This is why we should have year round school that starts at the beginning of August and lets out at the beginning of June. It would align very well with the SOL and AP exams. |
Most high school parents hated this calendar, just like everyone else. |
Most high school parents aant a normal calendar and hated the 25-26 calendar. |
Not every high schoool parent loved tgat calendar. Most did not like it. |
I suspect it is a small handful of people posting repeatedly that they "LOVED" the school calendar. In real life, very few people, including very few parents of high schoolers, say they loved it. Most people, especially high school parents and teachers, complain about it High school attendance was the worst this year, especially with all the 3 day weeks. The eff'd up schedule made it easier for kids to cut class and skip class |
I do. What is happening now isn’t school. They’re watching movies and doing busywork because exams are over. Attendance is a joke. |
If your child was struggling that much to keep up, an organized parent makes an appointment with a doctor to evaluate. They don’t hope for a bad calendar. |
There was no “struggle” but there was a LOT of work. My child is in all honors and AP classes and maintains straight As. |
Sorry, that doesn’t make sense. Try “a concerned parent.” I don’t have concerns. My child is a straight A student in high level classes. My child thinks they also made 5s on all their AP exams - the extra days off provided lots of study time! We loved it. |
Stop posting. You're in the minority. Again, most high school parents did not like the calendar. It was disruptive for everyone. Attendance has been a problem. |
No, I won’t stop posting, especially when me and my child are insulted for liking the calendar. Not everyone hates it. Not everyone thought it was disruptive. I’m sorry you can’t handle a different perspective. |
So you’re not the parent who said their child was working “every waking moment just to stay afloat”? |
| Its sad that so much time is wasted in the high school day during classes that they get more learning done at home on their days off. |
This is a description of a child who is struggling. It should’ve been addressed through intervention. |
