Natalie Portman is pregnant with baby #3!

We need to get rid of the 'shoulds' about other people. Including the right pregnancy age and that grandparents should help - they might offer, but we can't assume they can or want to.

Not mine. They love having a stay at home mom who isn’t chasing career heights but instead can spend time with them. They also like the financial security we provide, and our ability to pay for excellent education and their expensive hobbies. None of that would’ve been possible in my 20s & 30s.

They would prefer all that with younger parents. My mother is 35 years older than me (I am the youngest of 3) and I still felt she was too old of a grandmother and couldn’t help me with my kids the way I see other younger grandparents doing. I get sad thinking she wouldn’t be here much longer and see my kids graduate from high school. She is now in her 80s and can barely do much.

Sounds like your genes suck and you're a parasite looking for free labor from your parents. My mother is 78 and 35 years older than me and does offer help TREMENDOUSLY when I travel forr work taking care of my kids but is also living it up traveling the world. But I would never count on that.

Well aren’t you lucky! Your mother provided you overnights then - sounds like you yourself benefitted from some free labor then. May your mother continue to be healthy - unfortunately mine developed breast cancer at age 79.

I’m not sure why you are so triggered by my post. The fact of the matter is kids really don’t want older parents. They want more time with their parents when they grow up and have their own families. It’s then that they sometimes realize it, but they do also see it when growing up in grade school and high school. My own mother talked about her father being so old when she was growing up - it was embarassing for her.
