How does this benefit MAGA voters or red states? Research is expensive but compared to our national budget it is nothing. Confused, How is science and medical research partisan?

MAGAs must believe they are a superior breed of humans immune from cancer, Alzheimer’s and premier afflictions.

stop lumping all magas together. some like jd vance, elon, rfk even, and trump’s family are fairly well educated. the reality is the democrats gave a piss poor choice. kamala was an abject disaster with an inability to put forth a plan that would solve the inflationary issues or budget deficit . trump was a less bad alternative.

Harris was a way better option than Trump. Misogyny and racism won the day on Nov. 5th.

America will pay the price.

But....the price of eggs!

doesn't understand the difference between an endowment and annual operational funding. sad.

except endowments and deep pocket alums can bridge the gap. there are unconstrained funds in the endowment.

stop acting arrogant with stupidity. dunning kruger in full effect

You should really just stop because you are totally without a clue.

this you kamala?

What’s your solution for when universities have spent their entire endowments in a year or two, genius?

really? schools will spend $13B in a year or two? even hopkins with 1B in federal funding will still retain a significant portion of it. you suck at math and typing. go get some air in that brain

I guess someone needs to spell it out for you.

The proposed shortfall will be hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars.
Universities have endowments, but those monies generally are not general fund, but rather earmarked to support specific programs in an ongoing basis, or specific "faculty chairs" or specific aid programs. The caretakers of the endowments cannot just reprogram the money against the donors wishes to cover something like this. That said, even if they could, they would run through those endowed funds in a couple of years, leaving the university without its endowment.

wrong yet again. where do you think named bloomberg professor titles and funding came from - hint it’s from a large pocketed donor. fed funding will be impacted due to indirect costs not the entirety of all funding. the endowment’s unrestricted funds should the college choose will cover this from investment returns alone.

there, i spelled it out for you which is ironic.

So what happens to the efforts that the unrestricted funds would have formerly covered?

She was only a disaster if you believed right wing media's take down of her.

She had plans to deal with rising costs of housing, drugs and food. And the budget deficit under democrats has been wildly better than under the GOP. You would know that if you actually paid attention to facts.

Maybe it matters to have a low overhead lab running in the middle of nowhere.

Calling JHU a high cost area is hilarious.

So to answer the OPs question, no institution will benefit from the current policy and all will be harmed. Not typing that to be cute or clever. It is what happens when one creates a work environment of fear and intimidation - where only fealty is valued.

And all of this was needless. What a waste. This will set us back years. So frustrating.

it doesn't matter who voted for who, or whose truncated campaign had flaws, or why one candidate is being measured to another. we're here now. we need to fight what trump is doing now to ALL of us.

As the person who posted about not lumping all magas together and one who voted for trump, I despite what elon is doing.

But you voted for it. They told us this was their plan. why didn't you believe them?

So what is the DonoldX brilliant plan? 100s of weird EOs in the wain of Michael Scott yelling "I declare bankruptcy"? Taking over Gaza? Constant threat of tariffs creating an inflationary overhang and driving fdown consumer confidence? Gutting of CIA and causing chaos in FBI and this incredibly harming intelligence gatherign/executing ability?

Current system of three branches of govt over the last 250 years created the most prosperous country in the world history, but we now need a zero EQ nerd to rip it all up because he once read Ayn Rand and Curtis "dunning-kruger" Yarvin? Ridiculous!

i don't believe in his approach at the moment but I will give him time to refine his execution. I did not and still do not have faith in what kamala would have done, and that would have been zero progress in reducing crime in blue cities like san francisco, DC, NYC, continued high inflation, and an absurd national debt expansion. She was and remains not qualified. She was never qualified for Attorney General of California either. And neither is Pam Bondi for National AG. I only wish the democrats came up with a quality candidate.

Uh, crime has been steadily declining in DC since COVID. Stop paying attention to right wing news. They lie. Also, per capita crime is MUCH higher in red states than blue cities. Wake up.

And no, there is no refining of execution, this is what MAGA voted for - Elon and Project 2025. the told us that was the plan and that is what they are executing.

Sorry, you are just not a serious person.

What did you think was going to happen?

Again you go on with this projective crap. Yes, I along with many who voted for trump are real people with raitonal thought and a well educated background. What did I think was going to happen? Elon and Doge were supposed to make recommendations akin to an advisory commission for further evaluation. Not go in and execute cuts on day 1 haphazardly.

Elon is a pos going rogue. I voted for trump, not for trump to cater to elon's idiocy. Call it naievity - whatever. I do believe the two of them will have a breakup soon.

Oh, honey, you bought the BS.

If people thought tuition was high before, just wait til this impacts those tuition bills in the fall!

And with no department of education and FAFSA, I suspect a lot of students will have to drop out.

You keep listing artificial reasons for voting for Trump. If you had spent 10 seconds investigating crime rates you would know what your write isn’t true.

So…let’s recap…you voted for someone who directly told you his plan was to increase inflation with tariffs…who never mentioned or cared about crime rates in blue cities…who ran up $8TN in deficits when he was president and is planning to pass a budget that won’t touch the deficit…

Just be honest and let us know you hate immigrants or whatever shitty reason you voted for him.

Trump hasn’t once mentioned anything to bring down inflation other than the weakest EO on the planet.

In fact, he specifically mentioned policies like tariffs that would increase inflation.

Also, nobody gives a shit about the budget deficit…both your arguments are just the subterfuge for providing the real reasons for voting MAGA.

in correct - he advocated for reduced government spending and a balanced budget repeatedly which would
infact lower inflation. tariffs as a policy are one cog in the complex economic system. It appears you are the one who did no research
