Similar levels. I'd probably pick Duke or Brown, with Penn last due to environment, but that is me.

Miami for sure especially if you have the money. The best of the three academically and socially. Your kid will have a blast and will have a strong alumni network around the country including in NYC.

Male. Govt/history/politics/IR-related. In-state VA. Doesn't qualify for any aid. Willing to pay if a distinct advantage over other options.

Go to Princeton if admitted. No reason to choose GW if in at Georgetown. BC and Pomona are a bit far afield if interested in DC options.

I'd choose William and Mary or UVA unless Georgetown price is similar. If it is, Georgetown might be best.

Cornell
Rice
UCLA (OOS)
UT Austin (but not Turings)

For a boy, CS. No financial considerations.

Cornell or Rice.

Both great, but very different schools. Cornell has more name recognition, but is known as a pressure-cooker. Rice isn't as well known on the East Coast, but is generally regarded as one of the happier colleges in the US. Cornell will be a little more fratty; Rice will be a little more nerdy. Recruiting is good at both schools. Career outcomes will be similar.

Completely agree with the assessment. Would just add that Cornell's CS program is a cut above Rice's and is arguably the best in the Ivy League so career wise I would give the lead to Cornell.

This. Don't think it's a debate--I responded to the Michigan, Cornell, etc. CS. In this case Cornell.

Would rate them all very similarly academically so more comes down to your DC's preferences.

Duke - Best Weather and Athletics (good for social kids who want a pretty traditional college experience)
Brown - Free Spirit School (Most relaxed vibes but also worst location and as far as I'm concerned the least prestigious)
Penn - Most Fratty of the three (Wharton definitely gets the focus but can still have an amazing experience in the humanities)

I would lean towards Duke personally.

If money not an issue go with brand name and that is Gtown for prestige.

Prefers small school, but needs strong disability support, which RIT has.

I like RIT for you!

Agree. The 7 week quarters at WPI are too brutal if you need strong support. You need fast processing skills. They have support, but there is no time to catch up if you mess up.

UNC (full ride)
UCLA
Barnard
Cornell
Vassar

OOS for all. Law, social justice, poli sci orientation.

Money is a factor but doesn’t have to be the only factor.

We’re struggling with this so any insight is useful!

Amherst and Notre Dame would be two totally different experiences. Amherst probably has a better academic reputation, but personally I think it's dated. Nearly 40 percent of Amherst students are athletes. Make of that what you will but when nearly half of a very small school competes in varsity sports it's going to impact the overall atmosphere of the school.

Notre Dame is bigger and it's a solid school academically. Unless you are totally wedded to the SLAC experience, I would choose that.

Both are better options that Pitt or Emory-Oxford.

Notre Dame!

Notre Dame, easy!

My child has a very different profile and list of schools compared to others I’m seeing. Would be curious to hear any thoughts!

Emerson College
SUNY Purchase College
Fordham University
Muhlenberg College
Drew University
VCU (in-state for us but finances not a factor)
Elon University
Belmont University

Child interested in communications and media studies, possible voice/music minor, languages, creative or performing arts. Decided not to pursue BFA (has musical theater background) and more interested in liberal arts with opportunities for music and performing. Prefers city environment but found other campuses appealing. Pretty artsy, independent thinker. Has math learning disability but otherwise strong academic profile (especially language arts).

Full Pay. But, with the scholarships/merit received they'd all be about $20-30K range.
Pre-health (dental, PT, or advanced nursing). They don't all have nursing, however, that is not the decided path. If that is the decision, could do an accelerated path after grad. We have a 520 that could cover the 4 years at these prices, and likely the accelerated program, as well.

Did NOT want a big school. Already decided against a T15 school that was a reach but made accepted. Too expensive, far away, and not the right fit after visiting and doing full tour. I thought DC was crazy but it's their decision and >$80K/year I get it.

I agree and congrats! An OOS full-ride at UNC is a true gift. It's also a very solid school.
