OP here.
1. Who??? Outside of their states they govern, no one know who these folks are.

Did you read the assignment. Who, if they go in the race TODAY would have a chance to beat Trump? Who has the money, the infrastructure, the nation and foreign policy accomplishment and the name recognition to battle Trump? You all are living in a fantasy of what you want from policy and future. I'm talking about reality. Today. Jan. 22, 2024.

So a campaign held today would be won by someone who is currently actively campaigning? With insight like that, you should be a political consultant

I'm saying, anyone claiming that ANY DEMS will win over Biden isn't dealing with the reality that we are in the campaign. So stop complaining and get to work to keep Trump out of the White House.

Biden won in 2020 and will win again IF We ALL DO THE WORK. So man up and stop complaining. Anyone griping who doesn't lift a finger deserves Trump. Self- government means we all need to be involved in some way or any other. If you are on this board, then you have the time and skills to make a few call, write a letter, send postcards.

Stop B ! T C H I N G, start D O I N G.

Um. We all?

How about— Biden and his team does the work to earn the votes? He’s not polling the way he is with young voters because young people are confused or uninformed, he’s polling that way because he’s doing things they disagree with and expecting them to show up anyway.

So maybe he can “start doing” since he’s the leader of the free world and all?

We're citizens not customers. It's on us to do the work to preserve our country.

Wow people like you really don’t expect much from the leaders in your country huh? Trump is a moron, Biden is a dud. Not interested in voting for either. It’s my right to vote for the Green Party and before you blame me, blame your candidate for being such a colossal failure.

Then expect 2024 to be your last presidential vote.

Congratulations.

I understand this argument, but I guess we'll only be able to vote Democratic for the next 100 years, because the first time a Republican wins, Democracy is over?

If you think Trump is like Reagan or Nixon or Eisenhower, you're delusional. All we ask is that you vote for someone who didn't try to overthrow the government.

I am the OP. With Project 25 a thing, does it matter what Republican is voted in, in terms of the preservation of democracy?

If it were Liz Cheney, I would fear for abortion rights, but not the democracy. Same with Joe Walsh, Adam Kintzinger and a host of other (fromer) non-viable GOP.

Otherwise, if they are Trump-adherents, no, it doesn't matter. This is the right wing agenda for the country.
If she runs, it’ll be 3rd party. Maybe she’s flipped. She may reinstate sensible abortion rights. Like Biden, she won’t have absolute power to do so.

We don't need need a politician with strong democrat credentials. How about an eccentric millionaire who behaves like a buffoon, has zero knowledge of the Constitution and no respect for laws and norms? Surely we can find some slob to take up the mantle on behalf of the dems?

Not a Democrat per say. but Susan Rice a much better pick than Kamala and is much more Washington than Kamala.

I thought ANY DEM would beat Biden?!

Biden is not dropping out and it's too late to run against him regardless. Fundraising. Name recognition. Staffing. The logistics of getting on state ballots. Etc. It's not happening.

The only scenario is if Biden dies or has a health crisis between now and the convention. Which could happen. And Kamala Harrris declares that she is not a candidate for president. Which is unlikely.

But if that did happen, both Gov Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Gov Andy Beshear of Kentucky would win in overwhelming landslides and destroy the Trump Republican Party forever.

It's a damn shame that open border, geriatric, narcissistic Joe Biden chose to run for reelection. Because obviously America wants an 86 year old president who has allowed 7 million illegal migrants - and counting - to disappear into America. Real popular. And that's how we get Trump again.

You can't just spew the Biden is weak garbage. List a candidate who you truly think would beat Trump if they get in the race today. And once you put that person down you are stuck with that because that this point in the cycle, there is no changing.

Name your person now or shut up. I'll go first:
President Joe Biden will beat Trump (just like he did 4 years ago).

The same one who beat him on 2020, President Biden.

Sure. And then we'll be left with President Kamala Harris.

I know it's hard, but read the subject line. I know you have a college degree. Use it.

I think the pp who posted that did use their college degree, though yours is now very much under suspicion. Republicans pretending to be Democrats have pushed Marianne Williamson and Dean Phillips and RFK Jr and whoever else as “who the party really want.” No, dummy. The party wants the guy who already beat Trump. Biden is the magic Democrat. OP came up with a great thread.

Nancy Pelosi. She deserves it for all she has done for this country.

It's OK to remove your tinfoil hat once in a while.

Seriously, our commander in chief? I think he would crush her. In fact, she's one of the few potential Democrat candidates who would lose badly to him.
