Per the title, Britney revealed that she had an abortion while in a relationship with Timberlake because he “didn’t want to be a father.” Yikes. I’m pro choice, but the phrasing isn’t a good look for him.

They were like 17 and 18 years old. Of course he didn't want to be a father.

+1 he made the rational choice that any reasonable 18yo would make. How many people would want their teen-years dirty laundry now aired for the world?

Rational to terminate a viable baby? They were healthy multi-millionaire ADULTS.

That would be born to a mom not equipped to raise children (look at how she's doing with the 2 she did give birth to) and to a dad who didn't want the kid. Sounds awesome.

Again, they were both multi-millionaire adults with more resources than anyone their age. Her own sister gave birth to a beautiful daughter when she was even younger. I guess her sister should have killed the baby too. The fact that her sister didn’t likely underscores the mistake Britney made and adds to her trauma.

So, what? Who cares what the sister did? Different people. Different decisions. And your use of "killed the baby" is inflammatory and unnecessary. Shame on you.

Britney's career wouldn't have ended if she had a baby at 19 or 20. Reese Witherspoon had a few around that age and is still an A-list movie star.

Reese Witherspoon basically had a shotgun marriage to Ryan Phillipe, who wound up being a massive jackoff. She then remarried, had a third child with husband #2, and is now divorcing him.

Acting is a LITTLE different than being a pop star. Reese was also born rich.

You're really twisting yourself into a pretzel. A Justin and Britney baby would have been healthy and beautiful...and fine. There was no good reason to terminate it. It's sad. And it's understandable that such a life event would cause permanent trauma. Especially since she's probably pre-menopausal and knows she can't have enough baby.

The good reason to terminate is was because at least one of the parents didn't want it. That is a good enough reason. Your saying the baby would be healthy and beautiful and therefore it should have been born is disgusting. So Michael Buble's son, who developed cancer at age three should NOT have been born since he wasn't healthy? Kids who turn out ugly shouldn't be born?

Britney has been used and abused by every single person in her life for her entire life. At her level of fame, there’s no doubt that she has also experienced some unspeakable horrors in the industry. It’s like trauma upon trauma for her for the last 3 decades. Her talent only made her more of a target for manipulation and abuse so she really has the saddest story of almost anyone. Any mental health issues are just compounding her trauma. I’m not sure there’s any hope for her at this point, but also don’t think she ever had much of a chance in the first place.

she went on to have 2 children that she has little to no contact with.

look, she may have regret. it may have been traumatic for her fragile mental state. Most people terminate and don't really think much of it later.

A baby being raised by a mentally ill parent and another parent who didn't want said child? That does NOT sound like the recipe for healthy and fine.

The reason to terminate is that they didn't want to have a child together at that age, at that time. It was their choice.

You have no idea if a child would have been fine (or beautiful - wtf kind of comment is that?).

And JFC lots of people have abortions and are not permanently traumatized by it. She seems to have been traumatized by her entire life. I don't know if anything could have prevented her from being traumatized. Certainly not being a teen mom with a father who doesn't want the child, brunch granny!

Pre-menopausal and can't have another baby? She doesn't even have a relationship with her existing kids! At least those kids have a father who wants them and can care for them! Does this seem like someone who'd be better bringing more children into this world, with a father who doesn't want them, you egregious nutcase?

It’s a shot at life. Brittney denied that to her child.

This narrative that Britney has been abused by “everyone” in her life is just contributing to the problem by infantilizing her.

It’s not contributing to anything if it’s the truth. The reality is that she has been controlled, manipulated and abused since she was a child. She has no support system.

Oh please. That pregnancy was not a child. She gave herself the gift of some semblance of a teenager-hood. She gave herself the freedom from being a mother when she wasn't equipped for or interested in motherhood. The cells that had begun growing stoooed growing. Nothing was lost except the chance for a different road taken.

Most Hollywood couples divorce. I think Reese and Ryan were very much in love and decided to keep the pregnancy (like Victoria and David Beckham.) Ryan seemed to spiral after their marriage crumbled as did his career.

I have no problem that Justin wanted to terminate, but he just comes off like an ass who knocked her up and didn’t really love her despite being in a relationship, and after everything else that has emerged about him, he just seems like a sleazebag. And I generally feel bad for Britney that she was used so much in her formative years.

Accurately describing what she did it "inflammatory"? No, it's not. She killed a baby. Her kid sister in a similar situation, at an even younger age, did not kill a baby. Britney is describing this abortion trauma in her book. It is not a leap to suggest this immediate first-hand experience with her sister made the trauma that much more acute and contributes to her issues to this day. Especially as she sees her kid sister's baby grow into a young adult woman. That niece is a beautiful but sad reminder of what she did and what Justin (and the wicked money-hungry people around her) coerced her into doing.

Britney's career wouldn't have ended if she had a baby at 19 or 20. Reese Witherspoon had a few around that age and is still an A-list movie star.

Justin comes off as an ass 24/7. Let's face it, if he was chained to a cubicle at Deloitte, think any of these women would be interested in him?

I think her sister keeping her teen pregnancy and her sister having a baby girl made Britney angrier.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Britney intentionally skipped birth control to get pregnant so Justin would propose /marry her.

There were lots of tabloid stories back then about Justin and Britney being engaged . It’s obvious Justin was not looking to get married to Britney at 19 , but Britney was.

Unfortunate situation but Justin wasn’t that Southern. Britney should’ve married a country music star- hot and rugged enough for Britney’s Southern sensibilities
