They leave out a main factor. Trump has made the rank and file conservatives (who were formerly pro military) anti war and anti woke. Liberals who are pro war now do not join the military and never have. Here we are with proxy WW3 in Europe and China on the move with our military shrinking.

I don't think there's anything more pathetic than a state like WV being on the dole leeching off of other states and wholly dependent on "socialism" for its survival, and still having the audacity to one of the most conservative/reddest.

Liberals do join. Two of the top 3 states contributing the most soldiers to the military are blue states: California and New York. Also, before you try and say "yabut it's just the red parts of those states" a huge number of active duty military contributed to the Clinton and Biden campaigns.

Now break it down between combat arms vs pogue jobs.
