SWW-FS and SWS are two different schools. SWS has no zone— it’s lottery only to get in.

Same principal for a while

Jeez. Take the "L"! You were wrong. It's fine. People make mistakes. Are you really so fragile that in a choice between doubling down with gaslighting 101 and learning something quietly, you choose the former? Not the same school. Not the same principal. You are wrong.

I was thinking the same. The weird name is probably what's causing much of the confusion on this string. They should call it something else.

+1. My kids are multi-racial and I didn’t bother applying to SWS because of this nonsense.

I would definitely consider for my multi racial family if the academics were strong. Weak academics and this nonsense? No thank you.

I was part of a small group of white parents who launched a similar affinity group at our kids' school over five years ago. There were a few mixed-race couples and they did join separate groups, guessing they compared notes afterwards.

With regard to the mixed-raced couples, were the white individuals who joined the White Affinity Group able to conquer their racism?

With regard to the mixed-raced couples, were the white individuals who joined the White Affinity Group able to overcome their insistence on perpetuating their whiteness?

They married non-whites, had kids, and yet they are still perpetuating their whiteness by existing. How dare they?!

I am cheating on my white wife with 2 black women and an 18 year old Hispanic intern. I've lied to them all about having had a vasectomy, so I am doing my part to overcome my perpetuation of whiteness.

If you want strong academics, you shouldn't even be living in DC. Move to the suburbs asap.

I remember, I was on a committee at a day care where 99% of the staff were black and 99% of the families were white and relatively rich. It felt awkward to notice the fact. It was an excellent day care and the staff were amazing and loved, but I found out in meetings that staff were often offended and hurt by things parents and children did, and it was heartbreaking to hear. Some instances could have been cultural differences but others were racism. Gotta stop denying racism and open your ears and minds. No point in people being hurt because you stayed ignorant and defensive.

Are you assuming all white people are ignorant of racism?

Someone should send the LSAT parent chair this thread. Her emails about this are embarrassing.

So what’s the update? Has anyone joined one of these affinity groups and is willing to report back? Are people showing up for all of them or are one or two more popular?
