My theory for why Trump is doing this is that he wants to make sure that DeSantis doesn't benefit from Trump's legal troubles. Trump is going out of his way to paint DeSantis as the one that holds the key to the case.
If DeSantis intervenes, it will make him look like Trump's lackey. If he doesn't intervene, it will look like he is handing over a Florida resident to a malicious out-of-state prosecutor. There's really no scenario in which DeSantis will look good to the ardent Trump supporters. |
Trying to deduct hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of hookers and blow as a business expense is political? |
There is no lawyer with any semblance of a reputation willing to defend Trump. |
We've also learned that we can't trust polls. |
No indictment yet? |
My crazy theory is that Bragg isn't going to indict. It's just a smoke screen for the special counsel investigation, which is getting very close to indictment. |
My crazy theory is that Bragg will, but that he has more than just the Stormy Daniels stuff. Cohen testified to them like 20 times. I agree that the Jack Smith stuff seems to be heating up. Piercing attorney-client privilege is a BFD. |
It's pretty obvious that he has been engaging in lots of tax fraud for years. We know about expensing the hush payment, we know about the under the table (and expensed) payments , we know about the property valuation games, we know about the golf course grave, we know about charging the USG $3 for every glass of water drunk at mar a lago, we know about the secret service greens and golf cart fees, we know about Trump hotel, we know about the double entries from his bankruptcies, and so on and so on and so on. His entire modern life has been about agressive tax gimmicks and expensing everything. Cohen knew about all that stuff. |
