FEMA’s delay is unconscionable given the magnitude of this catastrophe poisoning the water and air quality of multiple states. This administration will be held accountable for generations of cancers. The White House knew the chemicals were the most carcinogenic ever known.
FEMA couldn’t come in until GOP Governor asked. He was the delay.

And Norfolk Southern should be held accountable for what then?

Obama already implemented them. Trump repealed them. The GOP has told Biden to propose laws (that they will oppose)

What do you want Pete to do, exactly? He doesn't write or pass legislation.

FEMA was delayed because DeWine refused to declare the incident as a disaster. So your ire should be directed first at Norfolk Southern and then at Governor DeWine.

Republicans had to DEMAND for FEMA to get out there. No need to lie about it, PP.

The Ohio governor didn't care so much. Biden contacted and the governor refused help:

"On Thursday, DeWine, for the first time, requested federal assistance during a conversation with White House officials, according to his office. Just two days before, the second-term Republican told reporters that he had earlier been contacted by President Joe Biden with offers of assistance, but he declined."

I repeat, the Republican governor of Ohio didn't want any help.from the federal government for the people of Ohio. He just changed his mind late last week.

Just keep on voting for these Republicans and see where it gets you.

The republican governor of Ohio DECLINED earlier assistance from the federal government.

Do you not know there's a difference between grandstanding for the media about FEMA versus actually following the process to request FEMA aid?
Do you not understand that there are rules of federalism involved and that FEMA can't just act on its own without following the defined process?
Do you actually think it's a matter of a Governor making a statement for the press or just calling someone on the phone and instantly getting a blank check from FEMA?
Do you think FEMA doesn't have a process? Never gets audited?

Shows Trump is more effective to get the help needed to these people.

Thank you Trump for showing you still care about Americans first!

BINGO. Shame on this administration.

Social climber of no real expertise shuttled to a resume check job. What could go wrong?

He is one of the worst dept heads I’ve never seen honestly.

All this funding to protect our roads and railways and this happens. FAA is a disaster, our highways falling into disrepair and out rail system is crumbling.

Not surprised with Biden’s lackey at the head of DoT these things keep happening

This. Where have our tax dollars gone? Zelensky.

LOL yeah right. What we've sent Zelenskyy is spare old 1990s tech and money that would be a rounding error in DoD's budget.

Understand the timeline.

Obama era regualtion suggested new brakes used worldwide but not in the US be implemented by 2020.

Trump repeals said safety regulation thanks to lobbying from US Rail officials.

Drain derails, local officials warned of toxic chemicals.

Governor ignores warnings and without consulting experts, authorizes the toxic chemicals be burned off to get the rail lines reopened.

Biden offers federal assistance, Governor declines.

Plumes of toxic smoke covers thousands of square miles.

Reporters are arrested for covering the press conferences.

14 days later, the republican governor FINALLY declares the area a federal disaster - this was yesterday.

Meanwhile, the whole time, the right wing media echo chamber gaslights its viewers into asking where Pete is, complaining about Biden and suggesting federal money for this is going to Ukraine. We see those sentiments echoed here.

Enough people. This is the environmental dystopia the GOP wants. This is the "limited federal government" the GOP wants. This is the lifting of "pesking and burdensome regulations" the GOP wants.

DeWine withheld declaring a disaster because 1) he didn't want to depend on the Feds for help and 2) he and the GOP are so deep in the big businesses pocket that they bend over backwards to take the position for big business that the sacfririce the health and well being, property value and life value of their own voters.
