I have money, but this is where I cheap out

I love buying costume jewelry, but I always get it second hand from eBay or Poshmark.

I make my teens participate. A lot of kids cant mow a lawn, or prune a hedge or weed a garden or change a tire or a lot of other basic skills.

No cleaners, rarely yard help, old cars

We vacation in Europe, though.

I pretty much don’t cheap out on anything but I don’t buy luxury products very often. But I would if I want them. This is why I’ll die poor. Thankfully I just don’t care about handbags or jewelry

I clean my own house. Not well though. Empty nesters

I have two old cars. I have started to learn how to do both basic maintenance and also some repairs. I have already saved myself $1000's of dollars and I'm also enjoying the self-satisfaction of it.

I have also been cutting my SO hair the whole pandemic and haven't stopped yet. More money saved.

In most categories i spend a ton of money, but for some reason i keep socks, underwear and belts forever - today i'm wearing a 20 year old belt that really needs to be replaced. I only buy this stuff when my wife makes me. It's irrational.

Cable TV. For me it's a total waste of money. I use my TV apps and an indoor antenna.

I am also that fairly well off person stopping at a drugstore to buy soda or waters to avoid the $6 hotel ones.

I'm the same. There's a difference between spending your money and wasting it. I don't like to over pay for anything that I can buy cheaper somewhere else.

Clothing. I wear my clothing until it is falling apart or doesn't fit. Basics from Lands End and 32 degrees. One summer dress and one winter dress from Wool& when I need to have an in-person work meeting.

Car. I love Mazdas, and buy new but drive them for as long as I can. I WFH so drive minimally - 15K miles on my 7 year old car, so it's got a long way to go.

I don't skimp on shoes (need Hokas for my arthritic feet), house cleaners 1x/month to keep a minimum of cleanliness and allow me time to enjoy my family, and travel. I have family overseas, but plan way ahead to minimize costs.

Cars. We have really old cars that run perfectly fine. Also I hate paying for the car tax here in va so I will only buy a new car if absolutely necessary.
