Well duh? Everyone knows that. But most people in the DMV do not live in an HOA community. 17% in Maryland 23% in Virginia |
And now people spend $6,000 a month to live like my single social worker mother in the 80s. |
I bought a rancher and don't disagree. Layout is a challenge. But no regrets, I'm otherwise happy. But, yes, I wish I had the choice! |
My Gardner from Mexico originally when young he lived in crime filled DC in the late 1970s. Around 1981 crime was so bad and he was paying to park his landscaping trucks in lots and still broken into he and wife drive to outer Potomac almost by Darnestown and bought a house on 4 acres!
He moved in parked his trucks in property. He does most of Potomac. I don’t think that would happen today |
Look at the number of posts in this subforum from people looking for a 4+ bedroom house for their family of three. |
What’s there to duh about? Many people think they can change their homes into rainbow colors, and that’s not a thing. You can’t even change your front door color in many communities. But most people don’t know this. |
OMG the houses in DC are awful. The way people live sucks. There were so many houses with structural defects, cracks, visible mold, crickets, rats, mice, asbestos tile, crooked floors, you name it. I get saving a solid stone Victorian but these colonials weren’t built to last 100+ years.
Every time someone builds a nice modern house the whole block loses their minds, that’s if they can push it past the so-called historic commission (which is unqualified to judge). And the nice new builts are RARE. It’s all a neo-farm house feverish dream nightmares or copy colonials in builder grade. Urgh. They should try filming MDLLA in DC. Wouldn’t last 1 season. Instead of a pool, here’s a lovely crawlspace… |
