Americans flags

Anonymous
I am annoyed with right wingers wrongfully stealing and totally misappropriating other historic flags like the Gadsden flag. It is tremendously ironic that they fly that one, as it was based on the "Join, or Die" snake woodcut representing a strong union of the states (which the "states rights" right wingers oppose) and was the flag flown by one of the first truly federal militaries in America's history as opposed to the "militia" oriented approach that the right wing loves.

If it's just an expression of your love for your country, then hang it inside your home. It's the in-your-face need to display your ideals/group identification out there for all to see (not just limited to flags of all kinds but also includes bumper stickers and the like) that I can't stand. Keep it to yourselves.

+1. I really can't stand those Republican coexist bumper stickers.

Funny you should mention that.

I had a coexist bumper sticker AND a pro-Trump bumper sticker on my car, and someone cut two of my tires.

I guess coexisting only works one way.

So it’s a little hard to rationalize flying our flag while at the same time being embarrassed about being an American and celebrating a country that you believe can’t do anything right and was founded by white men that you viscerally hate.

That’s why liberals can’t simply fly an American flag.

They’d need a modified American flag with a giant asterisk in the upper right corner.

See, this is the idiocy of the right on display.

We *are* proud of our country. But, even as proud as we are, we can at least be honest enough to acknowledge that it is not perfect. The right wing on the other hand clings to pure delusion and pure jingoism and completely misportrays the left as seen in the example by the PP above.

More Trumpers would be triggered by the "coexist" bumper sticker and would be furious it's on a car with a Trumpy sticker, if this is actually real. Or even if it isn't.

And was a huge criminal.

And Republicans still support him.

My relatives fought in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Most of my family has been here since the 1600s.

My father was a Vietnam Vet.

I'll be damned if some conservative gets to tell me I'm not American enough to fly the flag.

Um, on the contrary - the only people doing that are liberals, hysterically insisting conservatives have "no right" to fly the flag. This forum seems to be where LWNJ loons hang out. Never seen anything like it.

The only people who do what you say the “liberals” do are the “conservatives” and their ranting media. You live in a Fantasy world of your own making ..always the victim.

Always gaslighting ^^. Anyone with eyes can read this thread and see that the above is correct. Lunatic liberals screeching that conservatives shouldn't "be allowed" to fly the flag. Crazy. But sure - that's actually *not* happening. GTFO.

But no one cares what you can and cannot stand. No one. You're the odd man out - normal people fly their flags whenever they want. Deal with it.

So you think that banks, schools, federal buildings, car dealerships, etc. should not be flying the flag every day, as they do? Okey doke, twit.

THIS 100x.

I think it's partly why we get the arrogant rep from other countries. I mean, good god, is it that important to fly the flag everywhere? I'd much rather truly be living in a Dem society with more justice, less guns, nicer society and better social programs. Flying the flag is nothing but drama. Loving your country is more than this. Much more.

Not really. Trump is the only political leader calling for death of his opponents. Being a Trump supporter is completely antithetical to coexisting. The cognitive dissonance of your bumper stickers is mind blowing. I support a president who platform is hatred and bigotry yeah insane.

It can be both. We proudly fly the American flag by our front porch.

We have an American flag at our city house and country house. We are very liberal. My husband is retired Air Force.

He is adamant that the flag belongs to ALL OF US!!

Why would a flag imply support for Trump? We have lots of American flags in my neighborhood, many have been up for decades thus implying they have nothing to do with Trump.

One house does have a Trump 2024 flag, so clearly that one is different.
