I.e., your opinion is that minority populations should be looked down upon and ostracized for being different.

I won’t look down upon them. But DCUM seems to think everyone will be unmasking and celebrating. The reality is it will be maybe be a couple of kids per class and many kids will feel uncomfortable sitting next to a kid unmasked who sneezes/coughs.

I agree. The Trumpkin multi-posters don’t represent a majority.

Unfortunately for you - it’s now a majority including Ds that think it’s time to allow optional mask.

I'm sorry but there are many of us who are ready to stop wearing masks and don't even remotely follow Trump or any Republican. My high school kid came home the other day and said everyone is just waiting until March 1st to get rid of these masks. They already play sports and socialize without masks everywhere else. It's only in school they have to wear them and I'm sure 95% of their high school is vaccinated. It's time these kids get back to normal high school interactions in school.

You don’t have to be Republican to be selfish.

Cloth masks are to 2022 what sanitizing mail and groceries were to 2020.

If I go by my group of friends’ opinions, the majority are pro mask - see how that works?

But it isn’t a majority. Just look at Loudoun. Loudoun started unmasking this week and people are reporting 90 percent or higher of masked students. If Loudoun has that number, so will Fairfax.

True. What political affiliation are the remaining pro-mask mandaters? They’ve been relatively selfish for the past couple of years.

I probably have more friends since I’m looser on restrictions

You all are clinging to the first few days. Look - idc if people mask. I still do. But with vaccines available - it should be a choice and not a mandate. I think things will start loosening up as time goes on. What you say is no argument as to why we need a mandate. If anything is proves we can do it optionally.

There is a clear majority who flavor ending mask requirements, and it’s not just Republicans. I don’t think that can be reasonably debated. But doesn’t necessarily mean that a majority of kids will be unmasked once the requirements end. That’s the beauty of the choice — everyone is free to make their own decisions.

(Also note that many kids will likely still have masks only because they are still required to ride the bus. Once that requirement is dropped — and it should be — the masking numbers will change significantly.)

You’re selfish because you are done with the facade of wearing cloth masks that do nothing to prevent the spread of COVID?! Schools will now be mask optional. Everyone not ready to take off their mask is welcome to wear an N—95, which will protect them better than now, when everyone else is wearing a useless piece of cloth gaping around their face.
