I think the timing for so many people getting Covid (omicron variant) has actually been pretty great. And I say that as family who is fully vaxxed and was able to avoid catching it until two weeks ago. Three out of four in our household got it. It screwed up our Christmas with extended family but we're all fine. We've all had colds and flus that were much, much worse. By the time school starts back up most people who caught it the last week of school will be negative with antibodies flowing through their bodies and will be ready to be in school. Yeah who cares about all the teachers, not from the area, who caught COVID and then can’t go visit their families. So glad dcps sacrificed all their teachers health and winter break’s so kids could watch movies and paint snowmen for those last 3 daysZ

No sympathy here. We had to scrap our plans with family over Christmas due to Covid. I’m not whining about it. It’s what had to happen when everyone in our fully vaccinated family tested positive on Dec 22.

That’s great news for sure. Unfortunately, the hospital situation for adults isn’t looking great around here as of now. We still need healthy adults in the building as well.

Vaccinated adults are extremely unlikely to end up in the hospital, so hopefully schools won’t be severely affected by hospitalizations of teachers and staff, who should be vaccinated.

I don't think many pilots and hostesses ended up in intensive care in the past week and still thousands of flights were canceled because crew were sick (and just positive) and could not work. vaccinated and mildly sick teachers still cannot work.
