Good TV shows for 8 and 6 yr old

Anonymous
I am struggling to find anything that holds my 8yr old daughter's interest that is not Disney Channel Trash. They like Fetch (PBS) and Family Game Night on the Hub. Any other suggestions? Are there any good nature shows for this age kid?

Phineas and Ferb?

Avatar: the last airbender is an animated series available on netflix (inc. streaming) that our whole family really enjoyed. Not sure but it might be a little old for a 6 yr old.

My kids love the British comedys on WMPT, WETA, and Netflicks.

My kids that age LOVE Cupcake Wars. We even staged our own cup cake war at our house recently...
Honestly, any show that features cooking and a contest holds my kids' attention, now that I think about it. Like, Chopped, for instance. They watch Cake Boss sometimes, too, but that's not my fav, because I feel like I need to view them beforehand and make sure they're ok.

Arthur
Between the Lions
Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies
Jacob Two-Two
Cyberchase
SuperWhy
George Shrinks
Gem and the Holograms (yeah, from the '80s)

They're boys. One is 6, the other 10.

THe last one is the least "educational". I like Cyberchase--a lot of math concepts. Most are PBS shows.

Not true. My 7 yr old DD hates these shows but will watch them with me on occasion. She isn't really that into food or cooking though in general even if its cupcakes or cookies.

agree and Phineas so funny...my boys also love Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes. My 8 year old likes Scrabble Showdown and my 6 year old likes Family Game Night. Cash Cab is popular as well as are you smarter than a 5th grader. Minute to Win it is fun too.
