If there were no scars would it still be abuse. I couldn't watch the whole part where the boy was screaming in the background.

Don't have a problem with belt spankings. Have a problem with the shaving; that was just cruel. The guy went a bit overboard in trying to keep the kid on the right path.

Anything that leaves marks or scars is abuse. Shaming is also abuse. The whole thing was overboard and abuse.

It only adds to it that the man was not a family member and he was abusing someone else's child.
