I saw a man justifiably outraged at being smeared with false allegations and zero evidence to back them up. He wasn't acting as a judge in those moments, he was *reacting* as a human being.

His job in that moment was to respond like a judge.

Justice Stevens wholly disagreed with you and yours. Are you somehow convinced that you are more astute about the posture necessary to be considered for and confirmed to the job Stevens held? You’re more respected and considered than Ben Wittes, who evidently agonized over recanting his endorsement of Brett after Brett lost his dignity and shrieked out his partisanship?

There’s no “disagree” on that. Judges are judges all of the time. They don’t get to be “off.” They don’t get to be angry or react childishly. They don’t get to strike out. I know Trumpsters don’t understand any of this.

+ 2 I sure hope the liberals here don't think this forum is reflective of voters' opinions about the smear campaign Democrats' ran. It backfired bigtime, and I bet we see it at the polls.

I have never seen democrats as energized as I see them now. You know that despair you made fun of in 2016? It is pure, unadulterated, determined anger, and it's all focused on the elections. At all levels.

And if he acts like the conservatives on here, he’ll do it even faster than he would have if he had been rightly voted down because he knows his “win” was illegitimate and he knows that reality will come for him. This isn’t over. And now he just has to sit and stew and wait.
