Travis and Taylor

You see it in how both of them treat their friends. These are humans who like to cheer for their people. How perfect then that they both get to cheer each other on, literally, from the stands. I bet they are having a ton of fun, and that they both are still kind of surprised by the other person since they are also so different (him: fun, her: more cerebral). She’s also known to have a wicked, dry sense of humor. I don’t know, I’m hoping those two crazy kids make it!

I didn't know this about Taylor Swift until recently. I'm a Chiefs fan and have a cousin who is a major Swiftie and so now I've learned so much about her lol (I knew 2 of her songs before). And I love this about both of them!

I'm dying to know if Mama Kelce likes her though.

The woman who sat in front of Taylor and Mama Kelce last weekend (and was gifted Taylor's scarf) says they're besties.

"Donna and Taylor were like besties at the game. It was so cute," Vancil says. "You could tell that they were close."

(good article to read for those who don't think much of Taylor or Brittany - it might change your mind)

Thanks! This was such a cute article and really injected some "realness" to this discussion.

What? It’s a superficial interaction with a fan

Donna is enjoying the fame herself- girlfriend is in a soup commercial.

How much time do you spend paying attention to the people behind you at a sporting event? Did she have her selfie camera on the whole time?

Random people? Not much. Taylor Swift? I'd definitely be paying attention as discreetly as I could.

Most people would be trying to keep it chill to various levels but also hyper aware of what the mega celebrity is doing behind them

She better not be at the Buffalo game Sunday - too distracting. Let's just focus on football!

Travis has been looking depressed lately. He’s also gained weight. I think dating Taylor has taken its toll.

His career peak is over. Tight ends peak between ages 25 and 30. He's on a playing decline. His stats will get worse each year until he retires. I think next year will be his last year playing. The oldest NFL tight end right now is 38, which is ancient in the NFL. He's also approaching middle age which is when metabolism starts to slow. It's not going to be as easy to eat out each night and party after each game and keep the weight off, even with his intense practice schedule.

Yeah he’s going to look like his brother and gain a ton of weight. No way will Tay be with him then. She wants a hunk.

This is the dumbest opinion ever. She's never HAD a hunk before him, you dope.

DP. Are you familiar with Harry Styles?

Umm sorry to break it to you but Taylor is the same age.

Middle age is at the earlier 40 but really 45-50 these days.

Travis was quite good this year. He has 3-4 seasons left. He is not leaving until 2 more Lombardis. I don’t think his production will go down much.

Once he retires he becomes a tv analyst so will still be on tv every week. He is likely to try acting.

Likely they get married and have kids.

I have zero issues with Taylor and Travis but I disagree a lot with this prediction for his future. First, I think 3-4 more seasons after this one is incredibly generous for Kelce. He's already 34. He's got two years left on his current contract and after that his best case scenario is a one year contract with a team who wants a veteran to come on and guide some younger guys, for which he will be paid substantially less than he is now being paid.

This is why he's making such a big push to raise his profile and move into entertainment now. He is fully in the transitional stage of his career and wants to capitalize as much as he can on his current popularity so that when he retires in the next couple years, he has options. He is also trying to rake in as much endorsement money as possible because after he retires, most of that endorsement money will evaporate even if he successfully transitions to broadcasting or entertainment -- those deals are built around the idea of him being a current NFL player with a championship team, not a color commentator for the late games on Fox or having a small role in the next installment of the Hangover movies.

Kelce is on the last gasps of his NFL career and knows it. He is hoping to make the leap to a big entertainment career and is obviously open to lots of options. I actually think he has somewhat limited interest in making a Tony Romo-esque move towards broadcasting. Romo is a lower key guy generally and has adjusted to that role well in part because he doesn't have a huge personality. Kelce has a big personality but I don't think he has the acting chops to pull of a real acting career. Most likely he destined for some kind of hosting gig. Like a less news-focused Michael Strahan. I think he wants to do comedy but I just don't see it.

DP. This is so obvious that I can’t believe people are skeptical. All professional athletes have relatively short shelf lives and football is amongst the shortest. He’s too cheesy to get a real acting career going and has no acting experience. If Joe, who was already a trained actor, couldn’t make it happen he can’t either.

She is doing what she wants and good for her. Imagine someone suggesting if Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos was bearding for PR smh

Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos aren’t in entertainment. She doesn’t beard for money it’s to continue her fan’s parasocial relationship with her which drives engagement for all of her projects.

What is “bearding”?

What would some of her past “contract relationships” have been?

When she “dated” Taylor Lautner while they were promoting a movie together.

The Tom Hiddleston one was something weird too. Although perhaps that was more about spinning her breakup with Calvin Harris than an actual contract relationship.

She was like 18 when she dated Taylor Lautner. That was a WHOLE different life.

I don't know. Have you ever been to a concert or a sporting event and got really swept up and had a bonding experience with the total strangers around you? It's just freaking fun. Those women will remember this forever and Taylor and Brittany were obviously having a genuinely good time.

I love experiences like that and it's just a bonus they got to have it with the most famous musician in the country right now.

Looks like Jason was more the distraction.

But I don't care. They all had a blast.

Taylor attends a game, waves at fans, sings along to the stadiuim music and is touted a distraction.

Jason Kelce rips off a shirt, jumps out of the box, chugs beer, holds up random kids and is celebrated.

Huge double standard.

FWIW I love both of them.

Been listening to the heights podcast lately and I have to say, other than being a pretty face, I have no idea what TS sees in Travis. He's kind of goofy and just doesn't have the natural charisma of Jason, who could clearly have a career in broadcasting if he decides to retire. Sure he seems fun and he's obviously a great athlete, it kind of doesn't go any deeper than that. I don't know how long these two will last. Before I started listening to the podcast, I hadn't really heard him talk much and now that I have, yikes, it has kind of ruined it for me. I don't know how long these two will last. She seems a little too cerebral for him but maybe it works.

I don't think they'll go the distance, but it seems to work for her for right now. She's recently out of a multi-year relationship with a dude who wanted nothing to do with her public persona; Travis is the opposite. I think she's just having fun (and good for her). I'm guessing Travis is similar - he knows she's out of his league long-term, but it's fun for now, and I'm sure it doesn't hurt that she boosts his profile for the Rock-esque post NFL second act he seems to be shooting for.
