Deciding between Kindle Touch 3G and Kindle Fire.. help?

Anonymous
Kindle Touch 3G: 3G plus Wifi, $50 cheaper, lighter, smaller, MUCH longer battery life, quicker to charge battery

Kindle Fire: No 3G so I'd have to be on a wifi connection to d/l books, shorter battery life, but it can play movies, tv shows and is full color.

I guess what I am asking is, does the full color screen and the ability to play movies and tv shows outweigh the longer battery life, 3g capabilities and lighter weight of the Kindle Touch? I'm really wavering. Leaning towards the Touch, but I feel like I am going to regret this when the Fire is the "next big thing," plus I guess it would be nice to be able to watch tv on it during flights...

I say iPad.

If you are a hard core reader, go with the Touch. Especially if you already have a smart phone.

Otherwise, go for the Fire.

I am a hard core reader... and I do have a smart phone... that is good advice, thanks

I am getting the Fire. DD is always asking me to watch TV on my phone so this way she can have something a little bigger. I like all the things I will be able to do with and I don't care if it has 3G or not. Most of my books are downloaded at home or othe places where there is wifi

For good reason. It may be hard for you to believe, but not everyone wants an iPad. I won one at a work conference and gave it away because I didn't want it. I'm definitely getting a kindle fire. It fits my needs perfectly. Unlike an iPad..

Can you give some examples, please?

I agree with this.

Not the OP but can you read for long stretches of time without eye strain (because of the screen lighting) on the Fire as I presume is possible with the Touch?

No. That's why I'd get the touch if you're looking for an e-reader. The fire is back lit. I read an hour or two a day and I'm not going to do that on a backlit screen. Now, if you want to read a little, go on the internet a little, watch a movie, read a magazine, etc., then the Fire or Ipad is for you. If you're going to read books get the Touch.

Long time Kindle user here. Just got the Fire. I am going stick with my Kindle 3g. Hate the backlighting and lack of whispenet.

Whispernet. It's how you order books on a kindle, either from Amazon's site or directly from your kindle. The delivery technology that allows you to order from Amazon, and it is automatically delivered to your kindle within a few seconds.
