Someone asked me how to break up a quoted post into sections.
1. Quote normally. Note that the quoted passage starts with a bracketed section and ends with a bracketed section. The first is name-specific (though obviously it's usually "anonymous") and the second is always the same. 2. Break up the quoted post however you like. 3. Cut-and-paste the start and end bracket sections to bookend each separate quoted section. 4. Type responses as you like after the sections. You can type instead of cut-and-paste, of course. The key is to make sure that each quote starts and ends with the proper bracketed section. Sometimes I find this easier in Word. This is also a great way to trim down long exchanges. If you're careful about where the brackets are, you can trim sections of earlier quotes to just what's relevant. I'd be happy to give examples, but then they would come out as actual quotes here. You may want to practice here, and I can help if you have trouble. |
Thanks usermanname! Are you going to join us for the beerfest? Oh, wrong thread. |
'I'm just not that into you.' |
PP, try again. That didn't work. |
Break-up quote! |
Seriously? People don't have basic knowledge of HTML in 2011??????????? |
Now that's awesome! |
Why use "???????????" when "?" will do? Thanks again to OP. |
If it's the same why did you bother posting anyway?????????????? Does it bother you when people do things odd numbers????????? |
Fantastic. |
I thought this was going to be the best break up lines people have been given.... needless to say I am disappointed. |
Oh - thanks. I forgot to add that to my numbered notes: 5. WTF is the matter with you people anyway? You're a loser for having done something with your time that detracted from your mastery of technology. Will you be asking me how to program your VCR next?????????? You probably have one! ![]() ![]() ![]() There - that's better. |
that's what she said |
It's not you. It's me. |
If you check out recent posts in the class warfare thread, you'll see the need for this. |
