Why is it that Republicans are always projecting?! If they think women are only in this for politics, they’re gravely miscalculating. This is an existential issue for women, and a lot of men are on their side too, because they … care about them! |
Basically what they're saying is, when faced with a medical crisis during pregnancy, women should die. That's really the crux of what these people believe. That it is better for women to die than to abort a baby to save her life. |
Yep! Who cares if they have other mouths to feed, or whether they would live to have more babies. We can just start over with another vessel… and this is why historically it has been unlucky to be born female. Absolutely medieval mindset on display. |
As I have maintained for years, there are two statements that are correct about the forced birthers’ party. 1) Women aren’t people in the GOP. 2) The cruelty is the point. They do not care if women live or die. Some Republican misogynist actually tweeted an image of a pregnant woman stating that this is a woman in peak physical condition doing what she’s intended to do. If you aren’t breeding, you’re worth nothing to a forced birther, because you’re not a person, you’re just an incubator. |
You seem to believe that no other country has something called Women. Here's some news: nothing is more existential than the right to live. Most women in European countries, and also many in the US, get that simple point, and have been instrumental in passing reasonable abortion laws. |
I don’t really care what they do in Europe. I live here. Would like to keep being able to do so with my rights to decide how to preserve that life, intact. |
That's really interesting, because half the time here on dcum everyone loves universal healthcare and great public infrastructure and all that good European stuff. Perhaps you should be consistent and understand that good policy making requires taking into the account the interests of many parties --- including the unborn. |
" but unless it subsidizes abortion, makes it easy to get one before 15 weeks and offers broad exemptions after, and makes abortion more accessible it is not actually like Europe" |
Oh, you mean how it was before Dobbs? Balancing interests of women against the interests of those who pretend to be advocating for the unborn? Been there done that. You burnt that ish to the ground. Now women have no rights to be balanced at all and we are all but handmaidens. |
Here’s a public list of their staffers, in case there are any MDs on here looking to thin their patient rolls and free up space for more deserving individuals: https://www.frc.org/staff Let God’s will be done. |
This seems like reasonable compromise to me. No one’s outing them, but if they don’t think all women are entitled to medical care, then it’s only fair that they shouldn’t be able to receive medical care. According to their worldview, the women who work here should joyfully receive any pregnancy or womanly trouble with grace knowing that it’s what God wants for them, right? So there’s no need for birth control or really even preventative care. And if they have period related pain, well, sucks to suck, I guess: Eve’s Curse! |
As another poster pointed out, Europe is actually more permissive than just a 15 week ban. And, if you choose to have a baby, they are far more supportive with leave, health care, etc. in many of those countries. So, you can shove it. |
