Some wonder why he doesn't quit the race as everything about him is publicly revealed. In some ways, I am glad that trump and his acolytes remain in the spotlight so that all of their depravity is fully revealed, documented, tried and convicted.

It is only helpful if enough people in a few key states find it unacceptable.

This. Trump apparently has no ethics or morals to speak of, so why should he quit? He still might win.

You remember the outrage you felt when SCOTUS overturned Roe?

Multiply that by 20. That is what Republicans are feeling right now. And, rightly so. This was a sham trial started by a corrupt DA overseen by a corrupt judge. It will be overturned.

In the meantime, Republicans who were once not crazy about voting for Trump will crawl over hot coals to caste their vote for him.

So, gloat now. We will be gloating in November.

What's wrong? I thought the whole argument you people made about Roe was that it's a States Right issue. Well, in this case, the State of NY exercised its own rights in prosecuting Trump.

Wrong. They went after a MAN and manufactured a crime. And, one of the "crimes" from the smorgasbord that the jury could choose from was a federal law in which Bragg had no authority. It will be overturned. There were more reversible errors than I can count.

This is so much bigger than Trump.

They didn't manufacture a crime. The prosecuted a crime, the same crime at least 30 others in NYC alone were prosecuted of in 2024.

Why should Trump be held to a different standard?

Give us some examples of the others that were prosecuted. Be specific.

Here is a sample of others who were prosecuted for as little as $3K worth of insurance benefits fraud. All of these were prosecuted as felony falsification of business records, the same charge that Trump made. These are for fraud ranging form $3K to $60K. So Trump's fraud of at least $175K of payments to Stormy Daniels that were documented as legal fees, is nearly 3 times the size of the maximum in the other prosecuted cases.

As an American, I was really embarrassed this week while trying to explain to foreign relatives why in the US you can be a felon and even be in jail and still run for and serve as president. They were incredulous.

Trump is a reflection of many in our country who share these same values. That is the only plausible reason for his popularity.

There are a lot of us here, too, who are incredulous.

Once we vote to keep this convicted felon from our highest office we should pass laws to keep convicted felons from leading our country and the world.

Agree! Just watch the GOP try to block this! Find a Dem Senator to donate and volunteer with to keep the Senate and expand the majority. It's pretty clear Dems will take the House and think Biden's gonna win. It's the Senate that's a toss-up!

It's good to know that one of the people vying to lead our country is a convicted felon. Until last week we were unsure whether he would be convicted.

First former president to be assigned a probation officer.

And all the lawyers who work for Trump on one of his 4 cases breathes a sigh of relief as they realize that they may finally get paid for work already done on his behalf.

It this keeps up, he may actually be able to pay everyone who has done legal work for him. Another couple of weeks of this and he'll even be able to pay for some of the legal expenses he'll incur between now and Labor Day.

That would be seen as unconstitutional by the "textualists" who also want to return to 1800's laws.

Jefferson wrote that one should not become attached to a coat that you wore as a child and have since outgrown. It's written in his memorial by the tidal basin.

Those "values" being rape, fraud, felonies, being a serial liar and con man, and so on. Horrifies me that anyone would want to share and uphold those "values."

The one thing that trump is really good at is stripping his supporters of any remaining vestiges of decency.
