+1 I remember listening to Radio Sputnik on 2/24/2022. They said the defeat of Ukraine was a fait accompli. There was no use discussing whether the invasion was right or wrong. It has simply happened, and now the only question was how do we adjust to a world without Ukraine. |
That is certainly an creative way to justify Russia talking about committing genocide. "Well Russia might just be hypocritical -- they talk about genocide just like the US talks about human rights." |
The Russian Government and military are guilty of War Crimes, chooses North Korea, Iraq and other dictatorships as "friends", so what does that make Russia? Besides, according to Shoigu, Russia is doing just fine. "The attempts at an offensive were thwarted, the enemy was stopped," he added. "The enemy did not achieve its goals but suffered significant and incomparable losses." https://www.yahoo.com/news/russias-shoigu-ukraines-counter-offensive-155226283.html If Shoigu is right, then you shouldn't need to post anymore! Actions are what matter. Go do something else. Go back to work! Have fun! Drink some Vodka and toast Russia's victory! |
If the West was confident that Ukraine would prevail by itself, they wouldn't be sending weapons. |
I think you use too few exclamation points. Use more! That'll make you sound more passionate. So you're saying it's bad to count dictatorships amongst friends? Very well. I'm going to tune into the DOS briefing to hear them say they are severing relations with KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain. Khalas. No more trade, no more weapons trading, no more oil, no more nothing. They are dictators and dictators cannot be our friends. Cue "well THAT"s different." |
You mean Russian made weapons are crap? I remember putin bragging about all of the Russian high tech super weapons |
We are sending weapons just because it is fun. Have you watched the videos of Russian stuff getting blown up? They are hilarious! It is our past time since most major sports are just about done here and in Europe. |
Meh, we criticize those regimes all the time for human rights stuff. That's not a reason to accept russian barbarity. Or maybe we're just racist? Isn't that what you usually say? That it's ok for brown people to be authoritarian but not white. The Dagestanis need to be ruled with an iron fist otherwise they'll just rape and murder each other. But as much as this is a lovely distraction let's not lose sight of what we're talking about. russia invaded Ukraine in a war of imperial conquest with express goal of erasing Ukraine and Ukrainian identity from history. russia has committed mass war crimes and crimes against humanity as part of this effort. russia has also committed hilarious acts of corruption and incompetency that have made it the laughingstock of the world. Nevertheless despite the odds being greatly against them Ukraine has perservered, still stands, and is making gains as we speak. Meanwhile russia is in disarray, panicking, and destroying its own future for nothing. |
It really is quite fun to watch. Turret toss tiktoks are so much better than kadryov's lifestyle vlogging. |
What? LOL no. It happens very rarely or it doesn't happen at all. I mean name the amount of grants that has gone to human rights or women's rights support organizations in the Gulf countries. Name the amount of grants that has gone into democracy promotion in these countries? It's nada. Because democracy in the Gulf is not on the list of desired outcomes for the US. Compliance is. I do think it's immediately obvious that the Ukrainian civilian casualties have been given much more limelight and tearjerker value vs, say, Iraqi or Afghan or Libyan ones. Was it CNN that carelessly said they are not used to seeing blond and blue-eyed people in these terrible circumstances? What's unspoken in this question? Terrible circumstances are the lot of brown people. |
Is it? Perhaps grammar and spelling should be. |
Worth it to permanently knock off russia as a great power This is a once in millennium chance |
The 'expiration date' of a dictatorship and that of a democratically elected government are two different things: one is not like the other . In democracies , there's a constitutional mandate for periodic change (term limits) and so, a peaceful transfer is a built-in feature . Whereas, in a dictatorship the 'expiration date' is usually synonymous with widespread upheaval, instability and, dare I say, bloodshed . My use of the words 'expiration date' was a very prudent way of saying that, in dictatorships, it almost always end badly for the hegemonic figure that ruled over it. |
do you say the same about China & Taiwan |
Eh….Russians are pretty stupid - so there may be more chances coming in the near future. But agree - this is a great time for Russia to implode in all aspects of economy, military and population. Plus the videos and images of Russian casualties and lost hardware are entertaining. |
