Not only does it not do what PP is saying, the current renderings are not to scale per DPR! A magical pool doesn't just fit on a site without sacrificing something. Something has to go and DPR/Cheh/etc. are not being forthcoming about what that is. Any modicum of transparency and truthfulness would help this process immensely. But in any event, there's no pool for this summer, so we can continue this 126 page thread for another year! Yay! /s |

Yup. It's all murkiness punctuated by platitudes. All will work out without sacrificing anything. Essentially, they're saying that you can eat lots of cake and lose weight at the same time -- in time for swim season! |

Not at Hearst. The pool is unlikely ever to be built there. There are too many issues. It's both similar and dissimilar to the Ward 3 homeless shelter. It's similar in that, both were essentially Mary Cheh fiat decisions with no analysis and hardly any public input. They are dissimilar in that the homeless shelter was so fast-tracked that huge issues that have emerged likely will not stop the train now. (Even the addition of a $10M parking garage and the realization that it would be comparatively much cheaper to rent high end apartments for homeless people probably will not make a difference.) Cheh tried to move Hearst pool along, but it doesn't have the same level of agency support, so the warts are emerging while changing course is still possible. |

It has already BEEN paved over! Now it just has a few layers of sod on it. This isn't Yosemite. |

A big concrete bathtub, a pool house and surrounding pool deck, all of which will sit fenced and empty for 9 months out of the year, will mean paving over green space and likely cannibalizing an existing recreational use like some tennis courts or the playground. |
