+1 If this is the best GB can do, the franchise should die.

I think there are some women who need to be wanted and chosen to feel good about themselves, and if they look up to the man, it's a heady experience. It's really hard to keep up that excitement when you don't respect someone, or when you start to see him as someone you think less of, for whatever reason.

But if you've done this publicly, there is not a lot you can do about it that feels good. You have to double down. What else do you have, other than forcing it to be good by deciding to believe it really, really hard, no matter what?

Lots of man haters on here. I’m sure he’s a decent guy. Producers made him present a certain way.

I think there are a lot of good decent men who when put in sane situation would never lie and lead a women on knowing how wrong that is because it just dies not feel good to do. Nobody put a gun to Gerry’s head with all his nonsense and all his crying and trying to convince everybody what a good guy he is and what a hard position he’s in. It’s just common decency not to do that. What he did was unforgivable and indefensible to leslie. the country should all feel the same way about him, too little too late Gerry
get lost.

He’s the type that wouldn’t show up at the wedding and then cry and pretend he’s the victim. What a loser

You shouldn’t label people because their bar is higher than yours

But what kind of show would this be if there was literally no drama?? Imagine how boring it would be if he just politely declined each woman and there was no next-to-last episode with two women going to the fantasy suites. The whole point of this show is to create drama and tension. No one would tune in to watch ordinary people go on ordinary dates. Do you think the producers would’ve agreed if he said “Listen I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. I can’t in my right mind spend an evening with both women”. I bet the producers would’ve preferred he said I love you to both and waited until the VERY last minute to choose. Isn’t this like criticizing American Idol for pitting the last two contestants against each other??. Only one can win. Are they giving each false hopes by telling them they could be the next American Idol? Plus, these women signed up for this. They had to know it would come down to only one person. They may have been looking for love but ultimately they were in it for money and a chance at fame on social media. As a matter of fact for some of them - could have been all they were looking for. Maybe even hoping they don’t get picked but just get noticed and become famous in another way.

In a nutshell...

Fantasy Suite 1 -- Leslie
Lights-out Action: Hot and steamy all night, Gerry was serviced
Discussion: kids and grandkids, where they would live, travel plans (honeymoon locations), and Gerry repeatedly declared that Leslie was "the one" and his girl

Fantasy Suite 2 -- Teresa
Lights-out Action: Smooching but mostly discussion
Discussion: Teresa's net worth and investment portfolio, stock tips, where they (Teresa) would buy their house together, Gerry finally declared his love, kids and grandkids (time-permitting)

lol
Golden grandpa
You can date and have lots of interest as an audience and not have a Cosmetic made over bionic grandpa pretending he lives on little house on the prairie and so sensitive ,meanwhile horribly hurting and misleading the women whom he could not even walk in their shoes they are so great
We were just duped as golden seniors ourselves who are watching and expecting something wonderful to remember
Not some man that everybody knows does not measure up to have such an opportunity.
Just stupid on producers part if they were intending to produce a show of substance
Otherwise just watch housewives
Just plain stupid

I thought Teresa looked very stunned in the Katie couric interview.
He acted like he won the lottery

She ended up as a compliance officer at a small company, the salary range for which is usually 85-150K. So, let say she was at the higher end after thirty years in the industry. We don't know her husband's profession, but he may have had to retire on the early side due to kidney disease. Whatever he did didn't come with a health insurance benefit, why he wanted Theresa to work in the first place. They had enough money for her to play around with day trading before seeking gainful employment herself. My guess is that they were solidly middle class, but had a nice bump once Theresa began working and, especially, once her income rose over time. They didn't spend a lot of money on houses or cars (she mentioned frugality), and probably ended up with a nice nest egg (maybe somewhere in the 500K-million range). Gerry and Toni were also middle class, but not as solidly so as Theresa and likely didn't have the same level of savings. I doubt there was any day trading happening in that household. Neither broke 6 figures, like Theresa surely did, but Toni worked for a very long time and maybe did save some. At any rate, Gerry has the benefit of his wife's social security, which must be decent given the duration of her career, in addition to his own. The GB salary was a nice windfall for him, given his fixed income prior. I can't imagine Theresa isn't wealthier than he, but maybe not a huge disparity since they purchased similarly priced homes. Hard to know for sure without knowing what her husband did. But if he didn't have a job with health insurance, he may not have had life insurance either, especially with kidney disease.

Gerry's wife did work steadily for many years but would have earned a low salary. Current volunteer coordinator salaries average in the low 50s. Presumably she made a lot less for most of her career. It's true we don't know what Theresa's husband did, but Theresa may have outearned the Turners together after a relatively short period of time in her industry. I agree with those saying she probably has a chunk more wealth than Gerry, but we have no real way of gauging how much more.

Exactly. If there is no down-to-the-wire question regarding who to choose (at least in the story arc of the show if not in the heart), there isn’t enough drama to keep viewers tuning in. It’s tv.

He started dated seriously within months of his wife’s death. Months. And then lied about it and pretended to be a grieving widow. That is worse than the dating.

Stomping in the memory of his dead wife. Unforgivable (not that he dated but he lied)

Are we all fools? Not the right market focus to be playing these games.

Hope they cancel the wedding coverage.

Lying to the women and leading them on in the final fantasy suite is not required or wanted for show to be interesting and watch. That was the character flaw of this guy. We had no idea what he told Leslie she’s the one, after two days we can be together from now on etc. that was disclosed after the fact why she was so upset because he led her on and lied to her.for God sake she went out and spent $60,000 on a wedding dress, if you don’t think that’s outrageous and this guy could care less ,he’s a real creep and I hope he gets it back in life twice as bad.
