Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| The thread on FCPS class size got me thinking twice about moving into Fairfax County (we are considering it) how many kids are in your childS class this year. |
| 18 in K. |
25 in both 1st (there's an assistant) and 3rd. Jamestown. |
Why would class size affect your move to FC? I think most classes are 24-25 in Arlington, except for K where it might be smaller. That's pretty standard. Also fewer than some privates, especially Catholic. |
Really? You don't see an advantage to smaller classes? |
There's an APS class for K? What school has 18 K in APS? |
| We have friends at both McKinely and Glebe who both have 18 kids in K. |
In APS? |
| APS = Arlington Public Schools |
| We are in APS and have 19 for K |
|
Grade - Class #1 size, Class #2 size, etc.
K – 24, 23, 21, 25 1 – 18, 21 , 21, 21 2 – 22, 25,26, 26 3 – 22, 23, 23, 22 4 – 27, 27, 27 5 – 31, 31, 31, 32 6 – 27, 27, 29 |
| 22:31 Here. The numbers are for FCPS. Wrong thread. |
| It seems like Arlington has smaller classes. Maybe we should continue to rent here. |
| Class size is one factor to consider. Many classes have 1-2 additional support staff in the classroom with the students, do students get pulled out for advance work in small groups, etc. In the Fairfax elementary school my son attends, they have lots of support staff and small groups that help a lot with the larger classrooms. |
| 18 in our Arlington K's class. A teacher and an aide. There are 4 K classes at our school. |
