I doubt he has much of a reputation in the lacrosse circuit despite the Marshall player's comments to his mom. With McLean and potentially Langley games on the horizon and then Regionals, that was maybe the last time he plays in a lacrosse game in his life. If he wants to score in a game to end his career then who cares? Toughen up.

How ya feeling now, Marshall mom? This senior got a chance to play, and score likely his only goal of the season, to end his high school playing career. Maybe you need to toughen up a little bit.

Former coach here and have done this myself. Nice to get a kid in the game who does not see the field a ton. If you can make a memory for him and feed him the ball, all the better. I have seen the joy on the kids and parents faces after such a night.

On the flip side, I had a Fogo who taught me a lesson on this. Last game of the reg. season, I would say he was at 70% FOs on the year with a ton of asst. and hocky asst. zero in the goals column. We sent him out and fed him the ball.
He came off and told us that he didn't need a goal and that:
It didn't mean that much to him to score against backups in garbage time, it was actually an insult to him to suggest it. If he was going to score he wanted it to matter.
He didn't want to risk an injury before the playoffs, as he knew what his value to the team really was and a goal wasn't worth the risk to him.
We were up +15 or 20 and he was getting tired as it was our 3rd game that week and he was in the 75+ range for FOs and wanted to save himself for the playoffs.

They completely took their foot off the gas and I believe 21 took a big penalty shot from a Marshall player right before scoring. I just asked my son and he states not a single person mentioned the goal at all. He hadn’t even given another thought. They could’ve beat us by 35+ if they wanted to there was nothing we could do to stop them. I have more respect for the Yorktown coach after that game than before.

Thanks for that. Seems like the earlier post was either from one misguided parent or a troll trying to stir things up. Moving on.

Yorktown 13 McLean 5

I think the top seeds all win except Battlefield beats Freedom.

Just to make it interesting, I hope that Freedom and McLean play better than they did last time. I’m going to say Battlefield 11-8 and Yorktown 10-7. The rest of the games will not be close.

I think these picks are dead on. Maybe Westfield only loses by 3.

Creds to the guy who predicted on the format, I’ll add a lil insight to each as well. Stuck on the late shift tonight so most will wake up to this.
West Potomac 10, Woodson 7- Man I wish Marks had a few more high level players with him, he really deserves to win, but unfortunately he will not be able to keep up with Potomacs offense.
Robinson 14, South County 6- The time has come for Robo to make their regular season dominance mean something. South County will hang in there early, but they just can’t compete with Robinson’s talent.
Westfield 9, Chantilly 8(OT)- Had to change something, and Westfield has looked better lately. If they can play with Battlefield, they can win at Chantilly.
Madison 11, Oakton 5- Madison has Hau and Rubley going, they’re not going to lose this. I do think Oakton pulls out all the stops and makes it respectable, but Madison is a legitimate contender and too much for the Cougs.
Battlefield 10, FSR 7- Copying above poster here, Battlefield is rolling now and are a serious contender with Fisher between the pipes. Freedom is a really good team, but they don’t have and X-factor quite like the guy between the pipes for the Cats.
Yorktown 9, McLean 7- Mclean will be playing for all their parents in here who want them to be contenders so badly(this is a joke). I do think that this game is more competitive than the first, and Mclean will hang with Yorktown into the 4th quarter.
Langley 17, WL 3- This is going to be a laugher. Only way it isn’t is if the Langley kids get sick from inhaling that yellow and green smoke they use for their walkout.

All of this looks about right but I don’t think Westfield has what it takes. Chantilly by 4.

Battlefield over Freedom 4-3 on OT. It was 1-1 at the half, Freedom went up 2-1 in the 3rd and Battlefield scored 2 goals, one on Man-up to take the lead. Freedom caused a turnover with under 30 seconds, called timeout and scored to tie it at 3. Battlefield won the OT Face-off abd wad able to get a shot on cage on their 1st possession in OT.

Total defensive battle, with some amazing saves by thr Freedom Goalie in the 1st half, and Battlefield Goalie making good shots look like easy saves as he's done for years.

Only bug advantage in this game, was Battlefield won every FO, and in this type of game, pensions are very valuable. Both teams should do well in the Regional Tournament.

Good call. I’m a tilly alum so there may have been a little reverse jinxing going on there . 9-5, Chargers. Also, Madison Oakton was 6-4 after 3.

Any word on the Yorktown McLean game?

York score first 3 then McLean answered with next 2 and I thought it was going to be a close game but Yorktown pulled away and it was never in question. 10-4 I believe. Yorktowns goalie and superior passing were evident.
