Subject: How much do you pay per month in child care ?

And how old is your child and what kind of child care do you have? (Nanny, day care, in home or out)

First time mom due in Feb. Need some budgeting help. THanks!

About $4000 per month (including all taxes) for a live-in nanny. 2 kids: 4 yo and 5 month. Very happy with care. Nanny has been with us since the 4-year old was born.

I paid $400 a week for an infant. I'm down to $293 a week for a 4 year old. Day care center.

$1150 a month for full time care (45-50 hours) for an infant (up to 16 months). If you're in NOVA, I send my child to an in-home daycare run through Infant Toddler.

This is the best price I found with the assurance of licensing (and thus monitoring/accountability).

$350/month. 12 month old. Daycare center in Arlington. I think its probably pretty standard.

OP, by far your best deal is an Au Pair. I've known people who have been through a billion nannies. So not worth it. I would say Au Pair or daycare deal of some sort that you are comfortable is the best "deal".

No way. Au pairs are not cheap. On top of the salary you pay them, you're paying agency fees, room and board, taking your au pair on vacations with you... etc.

The most affordable option for day care is an in-home day care. The quality is going to vary greatly though, so do your homework.

About $3,200 a month. Live-out nanny who works 47.5 hours per week caring for our 2.5 year-old DS. We suspect it's on the high end but we're willing to pay for a nanny we like.

$17.50 per hour for 10 hours a week for one 6 year old. We also contribute toward health insurance and pay taxes.
