Any chance Verizon is coming tomorrow to install Fios at my new house? Boo to this strike!

Anonymous
I made this appointment over a month and a half ago to coincide with our Friday move, thinking we'd do without it for the weekend (a stretch!) and get installed Monday. I got an automated call last week saying they MAY not be able to keep my appointment, and someone would contact me to reschedule IF that was the case. Well is it the case? I couldn't tell you because I can't get through on the phone, and when I check online it gives me the same line.

Does anyone have any "inside" info about what this means? If I haven't gotten a reschedule call, are they coming??

Good luck. They were a royal pain in my ass last month when we had ours installed and that was BEFORE the strike.

It is highly unlikely they are coming. Their current backload is horrific.

OMG WHAT am I going to do. Am I going to have to call Comcast? I really don't want to, but I can't go without any TV or internet access other than my phone. Do you think they'd come in a hurry and give me a good deal without a contract?

We had a new box put in a week or so ago. We actually had managers show up and do it themselves. And they were on time (unlike the other times where we had no-shows 3 times before some yahoo showed up and didn't know how to do the install).

But I believe I just saw that they are ending strike even without new contract.

OP, can't you put your relatively petty personal needs aside and show some support for all the striking employees who are just fighting to be able to support their families, just like you and me. I get why it's a pain, but please don't even joke about it by saying "boo to the strike."

Why is this such an emergency? Do you work from home and need the internet access for your job? Why can't you go without TV for a little while?

22:04 No, no I can't. I don't know the details of the strike, but just because they are striking doesn't mean it is justified. Frankly, it isn't my business. I have enough business of my own to worry about and I'm not going to add striking cable workers to the list.

22:06 Just because I can go without it, doesn't mean I want to. We went without it all last week at the old house, this weekend, and now probably another few days at the least. My son wants to watch Curious George. I SAHM. I need a little break. I've had enough finger painting. At nap time, I'd like to watch the Food Network. Oh but I'm sure you don't even OWN a TV, right?

Fios sucks anyways. Give DirecTv a call.

Hey, OP, I'm with you. there is no reason any of these companies should treat their customers or their employees so badly. We hated comcast, and in the past five years, FIOS has gone to sht. good luck to you. Let's hope they keep their scheduled appt.

does it really suck? I lose directv signal often enough, even during those storms friday my signal went to blank screen...and during the blizzard, I was tvless till the snow melted off the dish...
@OP, I wouldn't put $$ on the appointment going through

It sounds like your dish isn't positioned right. I spent two winters in Milwaukee and never had a reception issue due to the snow.

Fios is expensive, the internet was SUPER slow and we had reception issues. The only thing that worked really well was the home phone and we don't even use that. Just don't sign a contract.

We've been without tv for 3 weeks since our move and I've got 3 kids at home. Sucks!

See, I knew the SAHMs just park their kids in front of the tv. And themselves too, lol!

THAT is your emergency?!!

Put in a DVD and take a Valium. It's just an installation appointment.
