Any chance Verizon is coming tomorrow to install Fios at my new house? Boo to this strike!

This OP is making all of the SAHM's look horrible... I have a feeing this may spark another SAHM vs. WAHM debate before we know it..

FWIW, I'm a SAHM... and could live without cable/internet for a few weeks if necessary.

does it really suck? I lose directv signal often enough, even during those storms friday my signal went to blank screen...and during the blizzard, I was tvless till the snow melted off the dish...
@OP, I wouldn't put $$ on the appointment going through

It sounds like your dish isn't positioned right. I spent two winters in Milwaukee and never had a reception issue due to the snow.

Fios is expensive, the internet was SUPER slow and we had reception issues. The only thing that worked really well was the home phone and we don't even use that. Just don't sign a contract.
Not sure about the dish...I know the installer wouldn't go on the roof to position it cos we have a slate roof...it may not be in the best position, though, as there were also issues of neighboring homes and trees

Fios does not suck.

The strike ends tonight. They are going to be working hard to catch up on the backlog of installations. I'm sure they will try to get to you as quickly as possible.

We just had Fios installed last month and I feel like we're getting ripped off - we have two HD boxes (one is a DVR and they aren't even connected to access the DVR on the other box), no extra channels and the slowest Fios internet they offer. $140? We paid $120 with Comcast prior to our move and I thought THAT was too much. Someone help me out here. I haven't been able to get a hold of anyone at Verizon - I give up after waiting on hold for 30 minutes.

DirectTV for cable and Verizon for the cheapest internet they offer? Wonder if that would do the trick. Our other option is Cox Cable, which we had years ago and HATED, but so far Verizon isn't proving to be much better.

I should add - our Verizon service has been just fine, great even, compared to Comcast. It's the customer service and the PRICE that I can't swallow.

22:06 Just because I can go without it, doesn't mean I want to. We went without it all last week at the old house, this weekend, and now probably another few days at the least. My son wants to watch Curious George. I SAHM. I need a little break. I've had enough finger painting. At nap time, I'd like to watch the Food Network. Oh but I'm sure you don't even OWN a TV, right?

My nephew loves Curious George, too...my brother bought the DVDs for him. Maybe that can be a temp solution?
