First the John Wayne vs. John Wayne Gacy screw up in Iowa, today she mistakes Elvis's bday for the anniversary of his death.
Not to mention the numerous other ignorant mistakes she's made. Why aren't her people checking her speeches more closely or better yet why are they allowing her to speak? My brain hurts just skimming over what she has to say, take GW and magnify his "dumb" x's 1000. Ugh. ''There are hundreds and hundreds of scientists, many of them holding Nobel Prizes, who believe in intelligent design.'' ''Normalization (of gayness) through desensitization. Very effective way to do this with a bunch of second graders, is take a picture of 'The Lion King' for instance, and a teacher might say, 'Do you know that the music for this movie was written by a gay man?' The message is: I'm better at what I do, because I'm gay.'' ''Not all cultures are equal.'' ''Michael Steele! You be da man! You be da man!''? ''It is horrific to know that in the African American community, 50 percent of all African American pregnancies in the United States end in abortion, 50 percent. That is a genocide of African Americans of the United States. It should not be. There are Americans all across this country who would love to adopt African American babies, but they can't because 50 percent of all African American pregnancies today are ending in abortion.'' ''If we took away the minimum wage — if conceivably it was gone — we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level.'' "Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn't even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.'' ''A woman (Terri Schiavo) was healthy. There was brain damage, there was no question. But from a health point of view, she was not terminally ill.'' ''I think there is a point where you say enough is enough to government intrusion. …Does the federal government really need to know our phone numbers?'' ''Unfortunately, the Census data has become very intricate, very personal, a lot of the questions that are asked. I know for my family, the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home. We won't be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn't require any information beyond that.'' “But we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States.” ''Does that mean that someone's 13-year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus? That night, mom and dad are never the wiser.' ''[Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said she has even said she is trying to save the planet. We all know that someone did that 2,000 years ago.'' ''I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out under another, then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence.'' |
Thanks for that collection, OP. I had heard some of those gems so it's "fun" to read other ones. My, she almost makes W look intelligent.
I think the answer to your question is that she has no interest whatsoever in facts. She's just trying to get her base galvanized and it does not live in a world of facts either. |
OP here. What I don't understand is how anyone can take her seriously? I do not care for Palin, but Bachmann makes Palin look highly intelligent. Maybe that's what the Republicans are trying to do. Maybe they are using Bachmann to boost Palin's credibility because for the life of me I cannot wrap my head around how anyone is taking this person seriously. |
Oh, I don't think she makes Palin look particularly intelligent. Did you forget about Paul Revere riding through the night to tell them British not to mess with our guns? Or that Africa is a country? And Palin can't make a grammatical sentence to save her life.
Palin is and sounds poorly educated. Bachmann can string together a grammatical sentence and appears educated on the surface, until you realize nothing she says makes any sense. She has no substance whatsoever and asserts her crazy opinions as facts. Unfortunately, a lot of people fall for that. |
Do people like you ever get tired of describing George W. Bush as "stupid" or "dumb?" He doesn't have the flowing verbal expressive skills of Obama or Bill Clinton, but he's not stupid. It's one thing to disagree with someone's political views, but it's absurd to try to dismiss a former state governor, president, and Ivy League student (yes, I know he had family connections--so do MANY Ivy League grads) as stupid. The guy is more of a practical, hands-on, business type than an intellectual. FWIW, I feel the same way when I read dismissive comments about President Obama's use of a teleprompter. |
Just saw this on TV and still chuckling-Happy Birthday Elvis! ![]() |
It's relative. I don't think that many people believe that Bush was actually even below average compared to the whole population, but he seemed to be as compared to other presidents and serious candidates. It was also hard to separate his perceived relative stupidity from his arrogance and willful ignorance. It's not a partisan thing. I don't ever remember hearing anyone call Romney, McCain, or Dole stupid, for example. |
You jump to the conclusion that we think he is dumb because of his verbal skills, but that's only a part of it. He was very descriptive of his executive logic, and frankly it sucked. He wasn't even a good businessman. Look at his record. Exactly what are you basing his intelligence on? |
Because Republican primary voters do not care about facts and she knows it. She just throws red meat at them and they lap it up in all of their ignorance. Remember, these are Fox News viewers who still believe that Iraq was responsible for 9-11, that global climate change is a hoax and don't believe in evolution. |
Didn't Bush run his companies and his baseball team into the ground? |
The short answer is: facts don't matter.
It's really that simple. |
I LOVE the one about how global warming and Jesus has already saved us. Captain Planet, he's a he-ro! Gonna take pollution down to ze-ro!
In his own due time, of course. Captain Planet works in mysterious ways. |
LOL! Did you just make that up? |
Exactly. (See, ManWithAUserName? I told you I really enjoy your posts). And even if he is up the average for the population as a whole, one would (wishfully, it seems) hope that we're not just electing some average guy as POTUS. I vaguely recall some documentary (on the Iraq war, maybe?) in which Paul O'Neill described talking to W about economic issues and watching the guy's eyes just glaze over in incomprehension. How quickly people forget. |
I forgot about O'Neill. He was the first to quit in disgust, IIRC. I haven't researched it, but I'd be surprised if any other administration came close to having that many tell-all books written while the president was still in office. |
