Infertility Support and Discussion

If it's not too personal- does anybody mind sharing how many follicles they had on day 4 of stimulation and what size they were. I'm worried that I'm stimming too quickly as out of 12 follicles 3 are already between 11-13 m on day 4. About 6 or so are around 8-9. I dont' want to stim too quickly. I hear that 10-12 days of stimming is the norm and I want to give eggs enough time to mature. I've had two natural pregnancies that resulted in losses around the 8 week mark caused by "old eggs" so I'm hoping and praying to get a few good eggs out of this my first IVF cycle.
I have DOR so high FSH- therefore my doctor put me on a pretty agressive protocal. Now I'm wondering if it's too agressive. I know everyone's situation is different but would love to hear from others what they experienced at this stage in the game. I keep thinking "slow and steady wins the race" .... Thanks |
| I don't know where I was at day 4, but I stimmed slowly, and it took me until day 9 to get a follicle at 14 so I could start Ganirelix. They upped my meds on day 4 because I had such slow growth, then my follicles hovered around 10 mm for several days. Days 1-3 I was on 225 Follistim / 150 Menopur. Days 4 - 12 they put me to 450 follistim and same 150 menopur, until the Ganirelix kicked in, the menopur went up to 225. If you are going too fast you would start to feel bloated and nauseous. How do you feel? I did an IVF where I was miserably sick. I was stimmed too much and probably overstimulated. This last cycle I was normal, other than some little bloat, I felt totally fine. |

I was stimming too slowly. At day 4 I had 9 follies and only 3 that looked good. I'm at day 9 and will most likely be cancelled tomorrow.
I started at 75 menopur and 250 bravelle. Now I'm double that. Today I heard DOR for the first time (my bloodwork at the start of this was all 'normal'). Hopefully they'll get my meds figured out for next time. |

Original poster here. Thank you both for your responses.
23:00, to answer your quesetions, other than some discomfort day 2 of stims, I feel fine. No pain, no nausea. so, maybe I was wrong about stimmig too quickly. Thank you though for your answer. Was your most recent IVF successful? I hope so. 21.54, I'm very sorry to hear you're at risk of being cancellede. How many follies over 10 mm do you have now? I hope it has gone up and that you are not cancled. It seems pre-mature to me for them to mention DOR to you based on one cycle. Hang in there and good luck. |

I had 6 follies on day 4 all around 9 mm. The next day 5 were between 10 and 14 mm. Tomorrow I go back for day 7 monitoring.
I'm 41, normal blood work but only 1 ovary. on 150 menopur and 300 gonal-f a day. If you were stimulating too fast would your Dr decrease your dosages? |

21:54 here,
Thanks 15:55. We decided to move forward with possibility of getting only 3-4 eggs. Better than a cancellation... I hope. I figured I might do better next time starting out on a higher dose or this might be as good as it gets so why waste it. The whole thing feels like such a crap shoot. I started cetrotide last night so I'm in the final stretch now. |
| 23:00 how many eggs did they end up getting and how did it go after that? |
|
17:11 here:
They ended up getting 8 eggs, 6 were mature. 4 fertilized. Two made it to day 3. One 5 cells and one 6 cell. In my two week wait with those two now. Anyone got a BFP from those stats? |
sorry, that was me, just saw this. IVF was a BFN. they got 7 eggs, 4 mature, 2 divided normally. Those two were grade A 8 cell, transferred both at day 3, nothing. Really aggravates the hell out of me. |
I'm so sorry to hear that. Are you trying again? It really is a crap shoot-even if you have perfect looking embryos. I'm 17:11 so trying not to hold out much hope since mine aren't evan 8 cells. |
We paid for another cycle already prior to the last one as part of a discount program, so we sort of have no choice. I'm in panic mode for sure, and we're wondering why I'm not getting implantation, so we're doing the round of immunology testing. My doc ordered those tests, and we're also consulting with SIRM. If this next round doesn't work locally, we're going to SIRM in NJ. As my husband and I keep saying to each other, "we gotta stop f***ing around." Meaning: I don't really believe in continually switching clinics, and I love Shady Grove, but I need to get some serious results on this or I'll be out of time. Our only issue is implantation and I just can't walk away from this knowing that we have one hurdle to get through and we can't get through it. |
| 21:39, are you doing acupuncture? That gets your body and your hormonal cycle as into shape as possible. It has been shown to enhance IVF success. It increases the blood flow to your reproductive organs, which should help with your uterine lining, and in creating good conditions for implantation. |
Some people recommended that to me, and I tried it, but I have a hard time believing in it. It just didn't feel right to me when I went for an appointment. The Acupuncturist wanted me to go twice a week for 3 months, then do an IVF cycle. I just couldn't make that kind of commitment - financial and timewise, when I really don't believe in it. |
Just curious- how many cycles has it been for you. Is there a reason to think this is an implantation issue and just not bad luck? Sorry if that's a dumb question. And good luck to you! |
