SDSC is how San Diego Surf keeps one foot in GA. ![]() |
SDSC would love to join the girls' ECNL program. That is why they keep their boys in ECNL, not MLS. I think next year will be their turn. |
Let's see.... ECNL Southwest is the biggest regional league in the country. In fact they are so big that ECNL used to split it into two regional leagues. People didnt like that so they merged everything back into a single really big regional league. Definaely sounds like a regional league that ECNL is looking to add clubs into. SDSC does ECNL for their boys because its the best they can do. If they could compete in MLSN it would have already happened. |
GA not an issue. |
San Diego Surf doesn't need to keep one foot in anything. Whatever league would roll out the red carpet for them. |
Have you been around youth soccer very long? I don’t ask that in a mean way, I’ve yet to see a club that was good at communicating plans to parents, especially 6-7 months in advance. I don’t see a scenario that GA stays BY but you’re right, they haven’t come out and made a public statement. The change to SY won’t benefit my kid so we are operating under the assumption that it’s changing and planning accordingly. Surprisingly there is very little chatter about the age change in our local area. Everyone just seems to be ignoring it for now which is probably what clubs want so they can concentrate on this year. I think by the end of the fall season/January at the latest that will change. |
Does San Diego need 4 ECNL girls teams? 3 not enough? |
People aren't disucssing it because for older players it really doesnt matter. Current older BY trapped players are comfortable on the team they're playing on. Clubs have worked sometimes for years grooming parents into being their piggy back. Neither group wants change. Youngers probabaly care a lot more about the change but they're already expecting change every year. So changing to SY is just more of the same. |
Stay tuned. Might not need to call your DOC after all. Public proof might be here sooner rather than later. 😂 |
On your bat phone with Trish the Commish again? If you keep guessing something will happen eventually something will happen. Receipts or shut up. |
Just remember I tried to help you……..😂 |
SD is roughly the same size as NoVA and we have 3 teams in ECNL and 6 or so GA. We’ve got a higher density of teams by population than anywhere else in the country. |
Well yeah, probably won't matter much for U18-U19. And wanting to stay on teams and teams letting kids stay on teams are 2 different things. Most have already heard the fake flex from some parents of Q4 kids pretending not to want the change. |
The help you need comes from a mental institution. |
Theres no fake flex. The ECNL numbnuts even said it themselves in their podcast that if warranted it would make sense for many BY trapped players to stay with their current team. They've already paid for the season, are engaging with recruiters, are telling them which team to watch them play on, etc. Honestly on top of all that its just easier to leave the olders alone for clubs. |
