The dam was damaged by Russia. Everyone knows that.

The pipeline damage was NOT done by Russian government forces, but we're still not sure which anti-government outfit was able to do something so complex, and which nationals were involved (Russian saboteurs, Ukrainians, Europeans from various countries, probably not Americans).

The manned and unammed attacks in Russia are implemented by pro-Ukrainians forces. The boots on the ground may not be Ukrainian nationals, but sympathetic Russians.

All this is easy to understand if you remember that these two countries were in the USSR - there are plenty of Ukrainian Russians, and Russian Ukrainians, on both sides of the conflict. My own Godmother is Russian of Ukrainian origin.

LOL everyone knows that. Sure Jan. EVERYONE. Why not go with the simplest possible explanation? Multiple shelling from both sides has weakened and eventually damaged the dam.

russia mined the dam in October and has been threatening to blow it up since then.

They did this because they panicked about the upcoming counter-offensive.

They even passed a random yet oddly specific new law on May 31st that suspends, until 2028, the requirement for investigations if a hydroelectric dam in the occupied territories gets breeched.

It was russia. russia did this. russia did this because they are scared of another epic humiliation and the flooding provides some limited defensive benefits.

If anything, Ukraine blew the dam to cover their loses of the last few days. Ukraine has lost hundreds of armor and thousands of troops in the last few days, including western tanks like the AMX-10RC. They also looked like conscripts driving around in random directions in equipment they are unfamiliar with. No way Russia floods their own defensive positions and cuts off Crimean water for that.

Even Prigozhin says that those claims are lies.

"I think that Baron Munchausen is resting. And judging by what is written here, we will soon get to the aliens - with such losses. To destroy one and a half thousand people, it must be such a massacre, per day, over 150 kilometers, that mother do not grieve. Therefore, I think that this is just from the realm of wild, sloppy fantasy. In general, you need to add up all the numbers that Konashenkov gives. I think that we have just destroyed the entire planet Earth five times.”

Tell me you don't read Russian without telling me you don't read Russian.

I don't read russian and have never claimed to. Would you care to proffer an alternative translation?

But why do that when conspiracy theories are much more appealing?

And with things underwater, you can count on truth never coming out. Was it mined from within or shelled from the air? It's unknowable.

Except that we know that the russians mined it in October. They were quite open about doing that and have been quite open about threatening to blow it up. They were even cheering it on at first, hailing it as a brilliant strategic move even.

They are. There are huge individual contributions coming in to support the war effort.

Sure. That’s why I see all the ukranians driving rolls Royce and Lamborghini in Sunny isles. They are giving so much!

Yet more evidence that this was planned destruction by the Russians. They were in control of the dam and its gates, and left the gates shut allowing the water level to rise to unprecedented levels.

DP not hard.
Mia Jankowicz and Jake Epstein Oct 21, 2022, 7:09 AM EDT Russia has mined a major Ukrainian hydroelectric dam and is ready to flood dozens of towns in an attack it would blame on Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed on Thursday.

It’s beyond farcical that anyone would suggest that Ukraine did this to themselves. Apart from the potential loss of life directly as well as the damage that floodwaters cause, that reservoir was the main source of water for most Ukrainian agriculture as well as part of the coolant for a nuclear power plant.

Why even respond to a Russian sympathetic troll trying to distract from Russia’s most recent war crime?

During World War II in Ukraine there were two deadly dam breaches on the Dnipro. Retreating NKVD forces in August 1941 blow the dam and killed nearly 100,000 Ukrainian civilians. The second caused by retreating Nazi occupiers in 1943. This did not slow either attacking army.

Zelensky claimed? That's your source?

OK, I guess.

Nobody did this to anyone. The simplest explanation is that the old dam became compromised after months of bilateral shelling. This is the likeliest reason.

It's charming that the link you cited says "estimated 20 to 100 thousand soldiers and civilians" while you blithely claim it was nearly 100,000 civilians (who you have no way of knowing were Ukrainian, remember it's the USSR).

Only if you ignore evidence that Russia mined the dam quite openly months ago.

But you're just a troll, churning out posts all on the Political Threads because you have no friends and you're living in your parent's basement.
