Good safety schools for those who like W&M?

Davidson, SMCM, Mac, Muhlenberg, possibly Brandeis

Davidson is more difficult to get into than W&M. 18% acceptance rate this year.

But Davidson's average GPA and SAT are slightly lower than W&M (along with fewer applicants submitting SAT scores). So if you had stats for W&M you'd have an easier time getting into Davidson, even given their low acceptance rate. That said, I would never consider it a safety. Just another reasonable target.

That’s not how it works. Davidson is using holistic admissions to shape a very small class. It goes way beyond stats.

So does William and Mary.

True, but so does W&M. FWIW, my DD got into Davidson but not W&M OOS. Her stats were slightly above the mean for W&M which was further above for Davidson. Solid ECs but no particular hook. That's why I said it would be another reasonable target, not a safety.

And my S got into W&M and UVA out of state but waitlisted by Davidson (he's now at a NESCAC). These are all great schools and have very accomplished student bodies.

Neither Richmond or Washington & Lee would be safety schools. And W&L in particular is probably going to be quite different to William & Mary.
