I am quite grounded, maybe cool 10-15 years ago. NE DC on Capitol Hill. Maybe it's because I've been in the neighborhood 15 years and didn't pay $1 m plus for my place. There are others of us here...

NP, but were there many people who lived on 14th St? There were lots of people that lived EOTR, near RFK, near Catholic, Trinidad, etc, and that huge public housing complex near where Nats stadium is now....but my memory is that 14th St had a couple dive bars, a bunch of empty lots/buildings, and there was a very active drug territory war happening on 14th st. I don’t think of it as being very residential, at least south of Columbia Heights, which is why it was relatively easy for the while foods to move in followed by the gentrifiers. But maybe I’m misremembering.

In all fairness, 14th St. was the heart of DC's red light district in the 80's. Large stretches of both 14th and U St were still boarded up and vacant from the '68 riots until the mid 90's.

No. As someone who actually was born and raised in DC in DC, and grew up in the 80's, you are a fool PP. That's why you have to explain "Arlington, actually" and that is when people roll their eyes at you. You're not a DC native. And I can't for the life of me understand why you would pretend to be, now, or in the 80's.
