Excellent for Murch. Wouldn’t want to be in any group with some of the Janney and Lafayette kids. |
The downside of being the best can be occasional arrogance. |
The best sorts are not arrogant. |
I guess yes, they are, according to the PP. Hard to swallow? |
| There’s Janney ... and then then all the rest. Jaguars set the pace for DC elementary schools. Unless you’re the lead dog (or jaguar), the view is always the same, whether your school is ranked 2, 4, or 6. |
|
I guarantee you all these obnoxious Janney posts are not from Janney parents. There is someone (or several someones) that love to rile up DCUM with this type of faux snobbery.
Not really important, but kind of annoying. |
| Mmmhmmmmm...sure |
And the troll is so transparent. I find it telling how easy to rile up the parents are. Relax, people. Your children are all special and authentic. |
| There’s definitely a Murch troll also. |
Thinking of moving child from big 3 to murch. How has the transition from private to public been? |
|
Feb 2026: I’d love to revisit this question now, as we are trying to figure out where to buy a home and are looking at all three schools. Kids are in preschool.
How did they compare now versus each other - and vs Eaton and Mann? From this thread, it appears that Janney and Lafayette may have the strongest neighborhood communities for family friendships. Is this correct? |
It’s going to be hard to find someone who can truly compare different schools. I can tell you I have a student at Eaton and we absolutely love it. |
We just had a kid at Murch (now Deal) and had a great experience, as well. But it's hard to compare because almost no one has kids at multiple ES's. Worrying about which one is the "best" is silly, I think. They're all good. |
