What house trends do you hate?

Anonymous
I hate light grey. I can deal with a dark charcoal in a room with lots of natural light and white trim but light grey everywhere is just dreary.

I hate kitchen islands in the middle of an L or u shaped kitchen. Its so annoying. I do like a huge island instead of a wall diving the kitchen/dining or kitchen/dining/family area. As long as there is a long open aisle where I can get from the fridge/counter to the range I'm fine. I really like galley layout kitchens.

I hate ranges built into kitchen islands. Worst idea ever.

I hate too many ovens. Who needs four ovens?? In luxury high end homes there can be two wall ovens, a double range and one regular/one smaller size oven underneath plus a microwave oven below the counter, two dishwashers, a restaurant sized fridge, walk in pantry, downstairs walk in wine room, and access to a built in outdoor kitchen with an oversized grill, sink and outdoor fridge. This doesn't count the outdoor bar area and indoor bar area plus small kitchenette in the guest or pool house. No one cooks this much.

I don't know what it is called but I hate when there is small path on the second floor with overlooks down to the the first floor on either side.

I hate columns too.

White kitchens.

Mosiacs in the shower.

Subway tiles.

Open floor plans.

Columns everywhere.

I love all of these!

Love various grays throughout the house and use color in curtains and bedspreads to change the rooms without having to paint. Don’t like tans cream or beige.

I'm not going to post pics of my house but our sun room is open to the living room and we have a buttery cream color in those rooms. We have a linen color with the just slightest tint of yellow in our hallway. Dining room is a peachy creamy pink (I love pink) and our powder room is sea foam green. Kitchen is white cabinets with greige walls. Upstairs, daughter's room is a light green color, son's room is light blue, bathroom is half bead board with turquoise blue, and playroom is a burnt sienna color. Our bedroom is a creamy rose and our bathroom is a blue green color.

To each his own here, I much prefer neutral walls to pink, sea foam green, or orange.

Me, too. Buttery colors give me the creeps. Grey or white, please.

what? lol

Buttery cream walls sound ugly.

Usually the McMansions are "Italianate."

Wow, do you say that about other countries? That's racist.

this is a very peculiar style. it's not ugly exactly but not a place where I would want to spend day after day. There is a reason gray is everywhere .peoe say it's "overdone" and it surely is but no one really hates gray.

I love blue!

Me too! Love it. Our house is blue with a bright red door. Very patriotic with the white windows.

I’m the burnt Sienna poster from before. Top pic is what the color looks like. It’s not actually orange.

No. Buttery does. As does sea foam green. And burnt sienna. And creamy rose. Straight out of the 80s!
