Economics. It would be interesting to see how some would react differently if, say, instead of just being “low skilled laborers” (I don’t like the term because it dehumanizes immigrants) these immigrants were qualified for, and motivated to obtain, say, big law, professorships, lobbying, IT, or whatever jobs white golkthink they have a monopoly on. But the type of people you reference don’t perceive a competitive threat from most immigrants (or think they could compete with them). So the bubble holds even though some faint rumbles about “Indians” pop up occasionally. |
Multicultural works just fine for my family. Please move to Kansas and find your racist tribe there. |
DP. You really don’t need to disparage an entire state in the process of making your assertion. |
Multiulturalism is not the same thing as huge influx of undocumented immigrants that break the back of local communities in the schools. I guess if your kid is in private schools, that does not affect you. I guess if your interaction is only helping your church provide care packages for weekends for the kids in these schools, you don't really have an idea of how difficult it is.
|
And, I guess if your child's class is not stretched to the limit in size so that the kids in these very poor and needy schools can have classes half the size, it does not affect you.
We need legal immigration. We do not have to exclude poor people, but we cannot have the huge influx of children that we have been experiencing the last few years. It's breaking the back of those systems with the large populations showing up. |
+1. Opening up your community sounds great on paper and in theory. Until your schools are bogged down and entire extended "families" ... and those with no relation to each other... show up in the single family homes in your neighborhood. |
Yup I wish I could give a tour to people from the richer parts of this area to check out parts of Annandale, Bailey's Crossroads, Wheaton/Glenmont and other formally middle class neighborhoods that have gone entirely downhill because of an influx of illegal, uneducated immigrants. |
I am all for as much legal immigration as possible. The problem is we have illegal immigration that our governments either can’t or won’t develop the resources to handle. MCPS (our school system) is having problems in part because it has not been able to handle the influx of immigration in the past 20 years. As a result, no one is being served well. We are looking at private schools, but I know most can’t afford that and have to try to make these schools work. |
Exactly. And many residents are middle-class elderly people who bought homes 50 years ago, and have watches their equity go downhill year after year - just as they near the time they will sell their property and use the proceeds to pay for long-term care. I can look to my own parents' house. The 3-bedroom little rambler they sold in the early 70s (their starter home) in order to buy their trade-up home that was more than twice the size is now selling for the same price. The difference? Their starter home is further away from the influx of illegal immigrants and this the school is better. |
+100 Sweden is already a shithole, Germany is fast approaching to becoming one. |
Awful. It’s horrible that liberals value the lives of illegals over those of US citizens. |
They smoke weed and leave litter and broke glass at the nature preserve near my house. I also saw two of them having sex on a hiking trail one time. Filthy. |
Is it Brookside Gardens by any chance? I'd hate for them to destroy that beautiful setting. |
